Our Y is committed to making a positive impact on our community’s health and well-being. People of all ages, interests and skill levels can find the fitness classes, family activities and group interests they need to lead active, vibrant lives.

We are supporting our neighbors by:

  • helping to prevent chronic disease through the evidence-based YMCA Diabetes Prevention Program - reducing participants’ chances of developing diabetes
  • providing cancer survivors with emotional support and fitness training on their journey back to health with the LIVESTRONG at the YMCA Program
  • improving the quality of life for older adults by helping them to stay active and healthy through our senior programming

We believe in giving back and providing support to our neighbors. Through community programs, local outreach and global engagement, we provide support and inspire action in our communities.

We are focused on:

  • teaching life-saving swim safety skills that prevent accidental drowning
  • hosting annual community events that provide families with an opportunity to spend time together actively learning about wellness and nutrition
  • providing local families and children with a traditional Christmas through our annual YMCA Neighbor to Neighbor Christmas Program

JOB DESCRIPTION: Part-time opening for a Water Aerobics Instructor at the Jim & Heather Gills YMCA branch. Instructs water exercise classes using proper form and technique. Current aerobic/water aerobics instructor certification and/or previous experience instructing water aerobic classes required. Current CPR/AED/Oxygen Administration certifications preferred. Lifeguard - Speer YMCA
The Speer outdoor Aquatics Center is composed of an 8 lane 25yard lap pool, a smaller warm water teaching pool, and a splash pad. The Center will not only serve YMCA members, but middle school students. The Lifeguard is responsible for maintaining safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck, and surrounding areas. Lifeguard - Gills YMCA
Under the direction of the Aquatics Director, the Lifeguard is responsible for providing a safe environment for all participants in and around the pool. This includes responding to emergencies and administering CPR/AED, First Aid and Oxygen effectively according to certifications. Lifeguards must be alert and identifiable at all times and keep a professional appearance. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Practice preventative lifeguarding by following and enforcing pool rules and policies promptly, and completes a routine check of pool and deck area regularly throughout their shift.
