Nu Wave Swim Club is seeking an energetic, self-motivated, passionate swim coach to serve as the Head Site Coach for our site at the Isidore Newman School in New Orleans, Louisiana. Qualified candidates will have strong communication skills. The Newman Site is home to Nu Wave Stroke School and Seasonal Competitive programs.


The Nu Wave Stroke School services swimmers, ages 5-10 years old, who are transitioning from lessons to swim team. Our Seasonal Competitive groups are designed for introductory swimmers and multi-sport athletes, or as an alternative to our High Performance track. These groups are split into 8&U, 9-12, and 13&O age groups.


Nu Wave Swim Club has four sites across the greater New Orleans area. Nu Wave has reached Level 4 status in the USA Swimming Club Recognition Program. In 2019, Nu Wave was recognized as a Bronze Medal Club in USA Swimming’s Club Excellence Program.



Head Site Coach duties include:

  • Coach both the Whitecaps (9-12 yr old) and Varsity (13&O) Seasonal Competitive groups.
  • Coordinate evaluations for all incoming swimmers eligible for Newman Site programs.
  • Emphasize the importance of proper technique, teamwork, learning in a group setting, work ethic, and sportsmanship.
  • Work with Seasonal Competitive coaches to establish goals for WAVE swimmers, oversee swimmer progress, and communicate progression plans.
  • Oversee and supervise Newman Site staff. Report on monthly coach hours, vacation/sick days, and periodic reviews.
  • Set practice schedules, practice groups, and criteria for advancement from group to group in partnership with the WAVE Head Coach and Head Age Group Coach.
  • Effectively manage swim team administrative tasks.
  • Hold education meetings with parents and swimmers as agreed upon with the WAVE Head Coach.
  • Contribute to coaches’ communications including team news/updates.
  • Communicate statistics on team members, such as practice and meet attendance, goal achievement, and team records.
  • Facilitate progress toward USA Swimming Club Recognition and Club Excellence Goals.
  • Develop cooperative and supportive relationships with the City of New Orleans, including local high schools, middle schools, and summer recreation teams.
  • Positively represent WAVE in the local community as well as within the Louisiana Swimming community.
  • Communicate effectively with WAVE Head Coach and Board of Directors.
  • Abide by and actively uphold the USA Swimming Code of Conduct and all M.A.A.P.P. policies.

Additional Stroke School Director duties include:

  • Manage WAVE Stroke School including staffing, scheduling, and registration.
  • Propose schedule for Stroke School sessions for all seasons: Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer.
  • Propose schedule for Stroke School instructors for all sessions to maximize our space and participation.
  • Recommend for hire all WAVE Stroke School instructors.
  • Perform Stroke School instructor’s training.
  • Create Stroke School rosters so that each participant is assigned to an instructor.
  • Create, monitor, and manage wait list.
  • Supervise Stroke School classes.
  • Create progress report to verify that instructors have properly entered information for each participant regarding what skills they have passed and what skills they may need to work on.
  • Be the “face” of WAVE Stroke School by interacting with both participants and their guardians.
  • Answer all emails and phone calls regarding Stroke School and evaluations.
  • Actively bring Stroke School graduates onto the swim team by inviting Stroke School graduates to join the team.

Job Requirements:

  • S. citizen eligible to work in Louisiana.
  • 3+ years of coaching experience with administrative responsibilities.
  • Competitive swimming experience at club level preferred.
  • Experience with TeamUnify platform. Have the ability to handle registration and website needs.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to team’s goals and assigned responsibilities.
  • On deck schedule is Monday-Thursday after school during the academic calendar with additional hours required for swim meets and administrative duties.


  • This position starts at $24,000/year
