The Smoky Hill Sharks Swim Team is seeking an energetic and team-driven Head Swim Coach to lead our summer league team. We are dedicated to having fun over the summer, while still challenging ourselves to grow. It is the mission of the Smoky Hill Sharks to provide an opportunity for young people to develop swimming skills and positive competitive swimming experience. The team is eager to welcome a new Head Coach who will work closely with the board of directors to fulfill, and improve upon, l our mission.
It will be the responsibility of the Head Coach to ensure all scheduled practices and meets are planned, staffed, and conducted in an organized professional manner while instilling and modeling life values and skills our swimmer can use both in and out of the pool with an emphasis on excellence, goal setting, development, support, and teamwork.
Job Description
The Head Swim Coach will be responsible for developing a plan for practice, training, and competitions held throughout the summer swim season. As described in the calendar below, the Head Coach must commit to attending/staffing all practices (AM and PM) and meets from the pre-season through the All-Star meeting (May17-July 24, 2021).
This individual is responsible for procuring and directing all coaching staff (1-2 assistant coaches, 2-3 swimmer coaches), including conducting weekly staff meetings focused on scheduling issues/changes, practice plans for the week, and all swim meet obligations. This individual will be required to attend all Mountain Hi Swim League coach meetings, plus enforce safety and code of conduct requirements set by the league and the club.
Further description and explanation of duties and responsibilities will be discussed on a one-on-one basis. The main goal for the Head Swim Coach is to provide all swimmers with an opportunity to master their swimming techniques, carry our competitive swim team program forward, and to ensure all participates are having FUN.
This is a salaried position from May-July of each year. Coaching contracts are reviewed/renewed at the conclusion of each summer. Compensation will be competitive to the market and will be reflective of experience and qualifications.

Summer Calendar
There are four practice groups that are scheduled during mornings from 6:00am until 9:30am and evening from 7:00pm until 9:30pm. Swim meets are held on each Saturday during the season (excluding July 4) and there is a team meeting every Friday evening prior to a meet.
The Smoky Hill Sharks swim club is a division “B” member of the Mountain Hi Swim League and is a non-profit summer program organized by a parent-run board of directors. This 40-year-old swim team practices at the Smoky Hill Pool, located at 5404 S. Telluride Street, Centennial CO. The team has approximately 120 members, ages 5 to 18, ranging in abilities.
