Job Description

The University of Colorado Club Swimming & Diving team is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced individual to serve as Head Swim Coach for the 2021-2022 season. 

The CU Swimming & Diving team is a student-run collegiate sport club at the University of Colorado that competes against collegiate clubs as well as NCAA and Masters programs. Our team prides itself on being open to all skill levels, ranging from first-time swimmers to very experienced swimmers. For many of our members, swimming is not a number one priority. 

We are looking for a coach that understands the importance of having a balance between school and swimming and can create practices that are inclusive and appropriately challenging for all skill levels of swimmers. 

This is a part-time, salaried position lasting from late August 2021 to early April 2022 with the opportunity to return for future seasons. Candidates must be available for 5 practices a week, for a total of approximately 10-11 hours each week, as well as approximately 4 meets each semester. The cost of travel for out of town meets and the team training trip is covered by the team. This includes the cost of plane tickets, gas, and housing. Meals are not covered under travel costs.

Requirements for the position include:

  • High School Diploma
  • 2+ years of swim coaching experience.
  • First Aid and Lifeguard Certification
  • Must be willing to work with an assistant coach. 
  • Ability to travel for meets and training events (usually on weekends).
  • Strong organizational and management skills
  • Good knowledge of health and nutrition
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A positive attitude

Preferred skills:

  • Strength and conditioning experience
  • Experience coaching college students
  • USA Swimming Coaching Certification

Responsibilities:

  • Daily workouts that can be altered to different skill levels
  • Coordinate workouts with assistant coach
  • Critiquing and correcting stroke technique
  • Work directly with the Officer Board to execute the team’s mission statement. 

All practices take place at the CU Student Recreation Center. 

Compensation will range from $6,000 to $8,000 per season.
