Job Description

In this role, you will help manage and support a team of lifeguards ensuring the safety of all swimmers by implementing safety policies and following camp regulations. The Waterfront Supervisor will oversee all aspects of a seasonal camp waterfront including but not limited to boating areas, beach fronts, splash pad, swim out areas, d fishing docks as specified by the program. On a regular day you will manage the guard schedule to support adequate staffing at all times, actively guard, model best practices for the lifeguard team, provide direction to staff and swimmers, and report all incidents to leadership staff in a timely manner.  You will assure that the waterfront is fully compliant with the local Board of Health code and YMCA regulations. 

To thrive in this role, you must have previous Lifeguarding experience with an interest in leading others and the ability to communicate effectively and follow through to ensure compliance.  You must be able to lead and act independently and have sound judgment to respond appropriately in the event of an emergency.  You must have team building skills and a desire to take on responsibility.

Qualifications

  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age
  • Must hold current certifications in Lifeguard, Pro CPR, First Aid and Oxygen (Lifeguard is responsible to renew and maintain current certifications)
  • At least 3 years experience as a lifeguard preferred
  • At least 1 year experience in a leadership role with staff supervision preferred
  • Must respond to an emergency within 10 seconds following YMCA protocol
  • Must demonstrate all lifeguard and continuing care skills on demand
