Assistant Swim Coach

Club: Palos Orland Swim Association (POSA)

Location: Orland Park, Illinois

POSA is a non-profit, year round competitive swim program founded in 1963. We are the primary feeder program to the community high schools of District 230. The team generally consists of 125 to 150 swimmers, and ranges in age and ability from 5-18 years old. POSA competes year-round in the USA Swimming sanctioned meets within Illinois and near-by LSC of IN. We train in a 25-yard, six/seven lane pool located at Carl Sandburg High School.

Team Mission: Our Mission is to offer an environment where our athletes can excel to the best of their abilities in competitive age group swimming, while developing the traits of integrity, sportsmanship and teamwork.

Job Qualifications:

Education: High School diploma or GED.

Member in good standing with USA Swimming

Experience:

  • At least one year of coaching experience at the club or high school level.
  • Competitive swimming experience at the club, high school or collegiate level.

Skills:

  • Demonstrated enthusiasm and highly motivated team player
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of swimming.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain working relationships with athletes, parents,

coaches, and officials.

  • Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal skills in order to effectively mentor and instruct athletes.

Other Requirements:

  • Active coach member of USA Swimming. Preferred: American Swimming Coaches Association certified
  • Must pass a Background check with USA Swimming and complete the USA Swimming coach requirements
  • Provide a minimum of 3 References

Job Compensation:

This is a part time position. Salary is competitive based on experience and qualifications. The club will reimburse any fees needed for certification, professional growth, and travel expenses for meet attendance. The position is available immediately, but will be filled by the most qualified and fitting applicants.

Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday | 6:00 - 9:00 p.m., Wednesday | 6:00 - 7:30 p.m., plus weekend meets based on schedule.
