Mission Viejo Nadadores Swim Team 

The Mission Viejo Nadadores, a 501(c) 3 charitable organization, is seeking a Head Coach to support our mission and guide the development of our team of 600+ swimmers from novice to elite.  Our facility is outdoors in Southern California. Candidate will answer to the Executive Director and be responsible for overall team management, including training programs, pool schedules, supervising coaches, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, and conducting staff meetings, as well as other functions.  The ultimate candidate must demonstrate the ability to foster a training and competition environment that is safe, diverse, inclusive, equitable and non-discriminatory for athletes and staff. 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree from accredited university; Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5+ years of coaching as head coach with USA certified swim organization
  • ASCA Level 4 certificate. Level 5 preferred
  • Advanced understanding of NCAA swimming and recruiting practices and rules
  • Proficient in skills development and coaching strategies
  • Ability to foster a cooperative and collaborative work environment
  • Proficient in using Microsoft office applications (email, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Member in good standing with USA Swimming Full Coach Membership
  • First Aid and CPR certified
  • Strong knowledge of Safe Sport policies and reporting procedures
  • Thorough understanding of USA Swimming rules and regulations
  • Knowledge of National/Jr. National Team requirements and qualifying procedures for pool and open water
  • Familiarity with Team Unify, Hy-Tek, Meet Manager, Team Manager and Colorado Timing
  • Independently perform all assigned duties of coaching a nationally competitive USA Swimming program

 

Full time position, Benefits Eligible

Compensation commensurate with experience

Reports to MVN Foundation Executive Director with dotted line to Board of Directors and Swim Committee

Work Conditions, Environment & Physical Requirements:

Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal levels, outdoors and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly; physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds to shoulder height and 50 pounds to waist height; and to bend, to stoop, to sit on the floor, to climb stairs, to walk and to reach overhead.  Duties are normally performed outdoors on the Marguerite Aquatic Center premises.  Duties may be occasionally performed outside of this environment during away competitions.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
