Lead Site Coach - Sharks Developmental programs & Assistant coach

 Sharks Swim Club, located in Friendswood, Tx. (SE Houston) is seeking an experienced, enthusiastic and organized age group coach to help our team & swimmers achieve their ultimate potential in skill development and competition preparation while promoting a creative, positive and healthy team environment. The scope of this position is for various skill levels, but can vary on the qualifications/experience of the coach hired.

 The full-time position would be responsible for the various developmental programs that we run throughout the year plus assistant for various groups throughout the year.:

            Lead Sharks Summer & Fall Squad from May thru October
            Winter squad - October- April
            Sharks Clinics: specific Saturdays throughout the year at FHS

These programs vary in size from 75-200 throughout the year. Swimmers in these groups range from age 5yrs- 16+. Many of our swimmers participate in more than 1 or more of the programs throughout the year. 

 Responsibilities to include:

  1. Program management of the different programs
  2. Setting up registration of the programs throughout the year with the support of our team admin.
  3. Staffing of assistant coaches at each of the programs.
  4. Scheduling practices for groups with the support of the HC/HAC and the relevant parties.
  5. Setting swim meets and/or events for the groups.
  6. Group communication for the groups.
  7.  Meeting with the Sharks staff about ways to improve the program and better support the community.
  8. Organize team swag for the groups, t-shirts and caps for the various groups. 
  9. Providing social media content and marketing materials for the seasonal programs with the support of the HAG.


Coaching Qualifications & Expectations include:

>Preferred two or more years of competitive coaching experience with a USA Swimming member club.  A college degree (preferred -but not required)                                                                                         

> Applicant should have experience that illustrates excellent communication & motivation skills with children, taking into consideration varied social, emotional & physical attributes.                    > Enthusiastic with a desire for continuing coaching education & sharing.                                           

 > Passion for working with swimmers of all ages and abilities – developmental to senior level.             

> The applicant must value the importance of teamwork and will be committed to helping the program advance. Only candidates with a strong work ethic and passion for the sport should apply.

Compensation is competitive within the Gulf LSC and based on experience and administration skill set the person brings to the team.  We also provide opportunities for coach growth, education and development, including clinics. Coaches receive reimbursement for appropriate meet expenses, professional certifications, benefits and coaching memberships.


We practice primarily at Friendswood High School -13 lane indoor facility along with other nearby facilities including 50-meter water. This an opportunity to work with highly qualified coaching staff - Head coach -ASCA Level 5, Head NCAA coach Division I & international level experience; along with 2 other experience staff who have had head coaching and international experience. The club is coach run/directed with a supportive parent group and board of 5 of primarily non-team members.
