Job Description

Asphalt Green is looking to hire an outgoing and organized individual with both administrative and swim coach experience.  This is a unique opportunity to use both coaching and business skills at a highly successful non profit with a mission to serve New Yorkers of all ages, abilities and backgrounds.  This is a hybrid role situated at our Battery Park City location in Lower Manhattan (see www.asphaltgreen.org for more information).  The position is on-site (no remote work possible) and the hire must be fully vaccinated.  Weekend work is required as Saturdays are part of the established schedule.

 The position supports both Asphalt Green’s Swim School which is is one of New York City’s largest swim lesson providers, and the AGUA swim team which is a USA Swimming Gold Medal Club that has achieved Level 4 Club Recognition. 

 Administrative Responsibilities (est. 20 hours per week)

  • Handle heavy phones and emails communicating with parents, swimmers (current or prospective enrollees or parents of enrollees) providing information relating to swim lessons in a clear, concise and customer friendly manner. 
  • Work closely with the Registration Department ensuring that program participants are correctly registered; assist with registrations, transfers, cancellations, and waitlist management using proprietary software (AG is in the process of moving to Salesforce to manage its businesses).
  • Conduct swim evaluations and orientations for clients new to the Swim School helping these new clients settle in.
  • Collect customer data using Microsoft Office 365 distributing info as directed.
  • Collect and organize instructor availabilities/feedback each semester; share relevant feedback from instructors
  • Create and maintain a competitive analysis for both programming and staffing.
  • Help to oversee part time swim instructors and handle administrative tasks on an as needed basis

 Coaching Responsibilities (est. 10-15 hours per week) 

  • Serve as Assistant Coach for Age Groups 1, 2 and 3 (ages 12 and under).
  • Collaborate with AGUA coaching staff following established training curriculum.
  • In addition to coaching on Saturday a.m., work weekend travel/swim meets, as required.
  • Handle underwater filming or on-site photos, as require.
  • Private Coaching available to supplement income.

 Qualified candidates will have collegiate or club swim experience and be in good standing with USA Swimming.  Strong organizational and computer (Office 365) skills are a must for success in this very busy role.   Excellent writing and people skills also expected to allow for smooth communication with our customers who can be very demanding.
