The Sharks Head Developmental Coach will help bridge the transition of swimmers from swim lessons and casual relationships to pre-team swimmers striving to reach their full potential. The YMCA of the North Shore SHARKS is a YMCA/USA Swim Team North of Boston providing high quality and comprehensive Swim Team throughout the region. We are a 6 site team with up to 300-500 swimmers including, competitive age group swimmers from age 5 -18 of varying levels, pre-competitive swimmers and Masters Swimmers. In this role you will directly instruct the swim lesson participants that have demonstrated the requisite aquatic skills to move forward to pre-swim team across all appropriate training and incorporate in-water instruction to provide a hands-on approach to lead and grow swimmers to their full swim team potential. On a regular day you will manage curriculum development, lead structured swim team practices, coordinate and execute swim team competitions and pre team meets, and partner lead coaching staff and volunteers. Additionally you will ensure consistent and clear communication to all stakeholders while modeling relationship-building in all interactions and supporting the needs of multiple sites.
To thrive in this role, you have proven leadership and supervisory skills and previous coaching experience with a thorough and demonstrable ability to advance swimmers through the foundations of competitive swim. You have strong relationship building and communication skills to effectively build relationships with staff, swimmers, volunteers, and program participant parents and guardians. Additionally, you are knowledgeable about Y and USA Swim Team regulations and policies and have the ability to organize and coordinate multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.
