Job Description

The Taos Swim Club, Inc. (TSC) is seeking qualified applicants for full-time, salaried Head Coach position. TSC is a parent-run, coach-driven 501-C3 non-profit USA Swim Club in northern New Mexico with Learn-to-Swim, Competitive Youth, and Adult Masters teams. We are seeking energetic applicants with technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and team building experience to inspire, coach and build our diverse, year-round club of approximately 50 athletes.

TSC is committed to providing an enjoyable swimming experience for swimmers of all ages and abilities, while also providing a challenging and positive training environment in which swimmers can develop self-esteem, personal integrity and life skills through individual and team achievement.


  • Minimum of 3 years of swim coaching experience
  • Minimum of 1 year of administrative/management experience
  • Ability to possess or maintain all required USA Swimming coach requirements.
  • ASCA Level 2 or higher certification.
  • Experience with TeamUnify and Hy-Tek
  • Driver’s license and automobile for travel.
  • Current eligibility to work in the US
  • Ability to pass background check
  • Strong personal values of honesty, integrity and respect


Head Coach is responsible for managing and directing Taos Swim Club programs.

  1. Training and Competition:

     Establish workout groups, schedules and criteria for advancement,

     Design and oversee season training plans & daily workout plans for all groups

     Manage, run, and/or delegate all workouts    

     Plan team meet schedules (including transportation, lodging, and entries)

     Attend swim meets

     Hire, train, supervise, evaluate and discharge assistant coaches as necessary

     Teach and follow the TSC Code of Conduct

     Foster solid relationships with athletes and families

        2. Club Administration and Daily Operations:

     Ensure daily attendance records are kept and team fees are recorded & deposited

     Implement and manage expenditures in accordance with approved budget

     Maintain posted and online calendars of events with email notices

     Solicit business sponsorships and other kinds of donations

     Lead swimmer recruitment and retention efforts

     Assist in fundraising activities

     Attend monthly meetings of the Board of Directors as a non-voting member

     Meet with board treasurer & club bookkeeper to develop and update budgets


Salary range is $40,000-$50,000, including incentive bonuses. Two weeks paid vacation.
