LESD Head Age Group Coach and Hawken School Pool Manager
THE POSITION
The Lake Erie Silver Dolphins (LESD) and Hawken School are seeking a dynamic and passionate Head Age Group USA Swimming Coach who will also support the management of the Hawken School Pool, which is a primary practice site of LESD. This dynamic leader will work collaboratively with the LESD Head Coach and Club Development Director.
Head Age Group Coach Responsibilities:
o Coach and develop training plans for the assigned practice groups
o Establish an environment that fosters positive team attitudes steeped in growth mindsets and aligned with the LESD Mission Statement
o Make an overall season plan in coordination with the Head Coach and coordinate sufficient coach meet coverage for the team’s competitive schedule
o Review training groups and criteria for advancement and adjust as needed
o Coordinate practice schedules at all sites for adequate coaching coverage
o Recruit and retain the coaching staff within the budget
o Review and assist the Club Development Director with meet entries
o Help determine and communicate the tryouts process
o Collaborate with the LESD Booster Board on club activities and meets
o Communicate with members through a variety of methods, including but not limited to meeting in-person, composing and sending a weekly update and other emails, facilitating swimmer and/or parent meetings, and providing content for the LESD website and social media
Hawken Pool Manager Responsibilities:
o Maintain all competitive/timing technology and training equipment
o Execute and train volunteers on the above systems for all meets at Hawken
o Manage and schedule lifeguarding staff members for all pool usage, serving as the lifeguard as needed
o Maintain all proper certifications and training for self and pool staff
o Coordinate pool repair and maintenance with the Maintenance Manager
o Respond to all on-site emergencies at the Hawken Pool
o Coordinate safe pool usage with all internal and external organizations
o Coordinate with the Facilities Department to ensure proper rental agreements and insurance are in place for any outside rental groups
o Assist with the development and execution of aquatics programming, including but not limited to swim teams, learn‐to‐swim programs, clinics, Hawken Summer Day Camp and other programs as needed

Hawken School was founded in 1915 as an independent, coeducational college preparatory day school serving around 1,600 students in preschool through grade 12 from nine counties in Northeast Ohio. Lake Erie Silver Dolphins (LESD) was founded in 1965, and is the top-ranked USA Swim Team. The team is focused on developing nationally ranked swimmers while aiding in each child's social, physical, and emotional growth. LESD has seven practice locations across Northeast Ohio and is part of the Lake Erie Swimming LSC with novice to Olympic level athletes. LESD coaches have a unique opportunity to collaborate with each other, coach other swimmers at meets, travel to high profile meets, and grow their coaching skills and careers.
