Los Alamos Aquatomics (LAA) is seeking a Full Time Age Group Swim Coach

LAA is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization affiliated with USA Swimming and New Mexico Swimming.

LAA is located in Los Alamos, NM nestled in the Northern New Mexico mountains about 1 hour north of Santa Fe, NM.  Practices are held at the Larry R. Walkup Aquatic center in a 50m Olympic size pool.

We seek a team member who is a team player driven to learn, share, grow, and work hard. The ability to work collaboratively to achieve and guide all swimmers to their full potential is paramount. 

The Successful Candidate will bring an abundance of positive energy and focus on the club's junior swimmers. The Age Group Coach will report directly to the Head Coach and work collaboratively with other coaches to assist, identify and navigate athletes as they progress up the level of programs within LAA. 

This position will consist of on-deck coaching, administrative duties, and assisting Head Coach with any assigned tasks.

 We can provide training for less experienced coaches and a great way to learn high-performance swimming and also admin skills in Team Unify, Meet Manager, etc.

Age Group Swim Coach Responsibilities:

  • Available to coach in the afternoons/evenings and weekends throughout the year
  • Must be available to potentially attend 1-2 weekend meets per month.
  • Create a fun and inviting learning environment to encourage growth and retention.
  • Serve as a role model for youth with the ability to demonstrate the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility and have a positive and encouraging nature in a safe environment.
  • Attend monthly board meetings and as needed staff meetings with other coaches.
  • Accept mentorship for your own development.
  • Establish positive professional relationships with swimmers, parents, the community, and other coaches.
  • Provide clear communication with swimmers, parents, coaches, and Board of Directors.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe social media presence promoting the Team.
  • Adhere to all policies, including LAA, New Mexico Swimming, USA Swimming, and all facilities where we participate.
  • Other minor duties may be assigned, such as running dryland and assisting in inter-squad meets.
  • Participate in all Team Functions

Preferable Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Coaching and/or competitive swimming experience at the club level.
  • Current USA Swimming coach certifications.
  • Knowledge of current technique development and training. 
  • Ability to communicate with swimmers, staff, and parents in a professional manner.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Must pass all appropriate background checks.

Desired Traits/Skills:

  • Enjoy working with children and helping them achieve their goals. 
  • Communicate effectively with parents and help them to understand and appreciate the sport.
  • Dedicated, hardworking, and a team player.
  • Commitment to learning and being open to improvement.
  • Computer skills and knowledge of Team Unify are a plus.

Compensation:

LAA offers competitive compensation(annual salary) based on qualifications.

 Position includes approved education remuneration and swim travel expenses.
