Contribute to the overall YMCA mission of healthy living, youth development and social responsibility.
Work with the Director of Competitive Swimming to develop a schedule of practices and swim meets for the season and inform swimmers and parents of any schedule changes.
Work with the Director of Competitive Swimming to develop a season plan for in-pool and dryland training
Position involves weekend or extended hours and travel to offsite events
Assist Director of Competitive Swimming to maintain team roster and ensure tracking, attendance and follow-up of program participants.
Assist Director of Competitive Swimming with any additional administrative duties for their site.
Maintain and develop a positive relationship with parents, volunteers, swimmers and the Parent Volunteer Committee.
Assist and Mentor coaches at assigned practice location
Responsible for staying current with the center announcements and information.
Must maintain safety by following YMCA and national certification guidelines.
Know and understand the pool area for safety reasons along with emergency procedures of the building.
Responsible for injury/accident reporting procedures.
Must notify appropriate staff of any unsafe conditions, needed repairs, complaints, accidents, or injuries immediately.
Assist in the recruitment of volunteers for all swim meets and other swim team programs.
Current knowledge of all areas of training and certifications as well as YMCA of Greater Kansas City associate handbook.
Attend community functions and events to promote the YMCA, its mission and programs.
Assist in the ideas for retention and sale initiatives for all Aquatics programs and members.
Assist supervisor with ideas in the marketing for the YMCA/USA Swim Team.
Participate in the Annual Mission campaign.
Responsible for updating all certifications.
Maintain a safe and clean, well organized pool office and area.
Must be 21 years of age.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Current certifications in:
First Aid
CPRPro (includes AED)
YMCA /USA Coaching Certified
Recent experience in working with senior level swimmers and up.
Experience in working with athletes of all ages.
Able to relate and work with diverse groups of people in a friendly and consistent manner.
Detail oriented with good organizational skills, and be multi-task proficient.
Part time 4-20 hours per week (up to 35 with meets)
$14-$20/hr based on experience and job responsibilities
