Age Group Assistant Coach (part-time)

JOB DESCRIPTION:

 North Aquatics Club “SHARKS,” a year-round swim club in the near Southwest suburbs of Chicago is seeking qualified applicants for the position of “Age Group Assistant Coach.”  The North Aquatics Club trains at Lincoln-Way East High School in Frankfort, Illinois.  The ideal candidate is passionate about the sport of swimming and focused on swimmer development.  The candidate will join our Head Coach and fellow coaching staff members to assist our 4 age groups, ages spanning 6-18. This position will require working weekday evening hours and some weekend morning/afternoon hours, possibly including extended weekend hours on competition weekends.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPECTATIONS:

• Previous coaching experience required - ability to obtain USA Swimming Coach Certification is mandatory
• Willingness to complete full coaching credentials, if not currently certified, is mandatory
• Maintain safety and background check requirements to be a USA Swimming Coach Member
• Compliance with U.S. Center for SafeSport Policies is required
• Thorough Knowledge of Competitive Swimming and Stroke Mechanics
• Technical Knowledge required to coach beginning through elite swimmers
• Enthusiastic, Energetic, Positive Role Model
• Team-Oriented, Good Communicator
• Availability to work evenings and weekends

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Attend 2-5 practices a week, unless otherwise agreed upon (arrival prior to start times)
• Ability to teach stroke technique to swimmers age 6-18
• Attend meets on a need basis 
• Work with the NAC Head Coach and Lead Coaches; take direction as needed 
• Actively provide feedback to swimmers to improve stroke technique and efficiency
• Be available to attend weekend USA meets occasionally as needed
• Attend team functions outside of the pool setting
• Fulfill at least 2 hours of continuing professional education annually 
• Complete administrative tasks as requested, e.g., attend staff meetings, complete app logging of hours, etc. 

COMPENSATION:

 NAC pay scale is extremely competitive. Pay is commensurate with experience.  This is an hourly position. The Club will cover the costs of required certifications and USA Swimming membership, as well as reimburse approved professional development fees.  Additional coaching perks, such as discounted swimmer fees, are applicable based upon commitment
