Job Description

The Vancouver Swim Club, located in Vancouver, Washington, is searching for a qualified assistant coach to add to our team. This individual should be a high energy, positive person, displaying good communication skills, working well with swimmers, parents and other coaching staff. The Vancouver Swim Club is a successful USA Swimming member year-round program. The club is divided into several swim groups based on ability and age, with children ages 6-18. This coaching position will have the opportunity to coach multiple levels of training groups (beginner group through advanced group) at separate practice times. Currently, practice times during summer are offered daily for all groups in the evenings. This is a part time position and will be paid an hourly wage and reimbursement for certification/educational fees required for the position. Prior swim coaching or swim team experience preferred.

Roles & Responsibilities:

·  Provide input to head coach to develop and implement year-round and seasonal training plans for your training group

·  Coach/manage a training group to ensure the teaching of proper stroke technique and implementation of the training plan

·  Inspire, encourage, and motivate each swimmer to realize their full potential in the sport of swimming

·  Teach life skills such as self-discipline, self-confidence, good sportsmanship, goal setting and working to achieve goals

·  Assign meet events/entries to swimmers and ensure swimmers are entered in meets

·  Attend and coach swimmers at meets (1-2 meets/per month)

 

Education/Experience:

·  Competitive Swimming experience (required).

·  Prior swim coaching experience with a competitive swimming program (preferred).

·  Knowledge of proper swimming technique, training science, and stroke/distance specific racing background.

·  Detail oriented with excellent communication and organization skills

·  Experience using Team Unify online software and app (preferred)

 

Licenses/Certifications/Registrations (Currently Hold or Ability to Obtain):

·  Certified coaching member of USA Swimming to include:

    • Background Check
    • Athlete Protection training

·  Certified Lifeguard / CPR
