Head Site Coach | Boise Y Swim Team - West Boise YMCA

The Boise Y Swim Team is a year-round competitive swimming program for young men and women six years of age and older. The team consists of 300 athletes, staffs 10 coaches, and operates in four facilities across the Treasure Valley. The Boise Y swim team competes within both YMCA and USA Swimming organizations, developing athletes that participate at all levels including local and regional competitors, and YMCA National, USA Swimming Junior and Senior National, and Olympic Trial qualifiers.

The Head Site Coach - Boise Y Swim Team is responsible for administering the operation of the Competitive Swim Team program at an assigned site, overseeing the safe management of programs, facilities, and volunteer and staff development. 

Responsibilities:

• Work closely with Head Coach and Aquatics staff to ensure program area operations are consistent with approved Leading Practices.
• Work with the Head Coach on daily, monthly and yearly seasonal planning for workouts, swim meets and team events.
• Work with the Head Coach on developing and implementing stroke development with all practice groups.
• Provide leadership to Competitive Swim Team staff, including onboarding, role-modeling, and on-going development.
• Work with the Head Coach in setting overall team performance goals and work with the coaching staff, parents, and participants to implement plan to accomplish set goals.
• Prepare statistical, analytical, and narrative reports regarding programs.
• Respond to member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
• Actively participate in team meetings and committees as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Three years of competitive swim coaching experience.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Must be able to differentiate between colors (red, yellow, blue and green).
• Excellent human relations skills and an ability to maintain position communication with staff and members.
• Ability to address and make solid decision in emergency situations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills including telephone etiquette and computer use.
• Prior experience of successful supervisor of staff and volunteer preferred.

Schedule:

This is a full time 40 hour a week position.  Schedule requirements are Monday through Friday in alignment with Team Practice.  Weekends are required as needed based on swim meet schedule.
