CANES is seeking a Dryland and Stroke Performance Coach to work with swimmers ages 11-17, 2-4 days per week. The coach will execute dryland workouts and work in small groups for stroke technique and video analysis.
Position Expectations:
Reports to the Head Coach
4 afternoons per week, and Sat morning, includes a minimum of one meet per month.
Working knowledge of USA Swimming and FHSAA rules.
Working knowledge/application of stroke technique, swimmer development, and race strategy.
Working knowledge of human movement and the mechanics of swimming as it relates to dryland work.
Working knowledge and the ability to teach clock management and interval training for swimmers learning how to train on intervals. Ability to coach 2-3 intervals at a time during sets.
Possess strong skills in public relations and written/verbal communication, good word
processing skills, and experience with swimming computer software.
Ability to work in sunny, hot, and humid environments for long periods. And train athletes safely in similar conditions. Ability to adapt the practice to changes in weather on short notice.
Certifications current or able to acquire upon hiring:
CPR. First Aid, Safety Training for Swim Coaches, Concussion Training, and membership in good standing with USA Swimming.
Athlete protection training, Safe Sport training, a background check through USA Swimming

Duties:
Coach a group of 11-17 YO competitive swimmers on stroke technique/ video analysis
Coach a dryland workout for swimmers ages 11-17 YO
Assist with test sets or main sets as needed.
Attend one meet per month on a weekend.
Opportunity to increase responsibilities/hours based on performance

Hurricane Aquatics is a full-service swim program at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL. The program was formed in 2003 with a learn-to-swim program and a recreational summer camp. 2014 Hurricane Aquatics (CANES) created a USA Swimming registered competitive team. Swimmers range in age and ability from 10 and under swimmers who can race at least a 200 IM through post-graduate/international competitors. CANES is a Safe Sport recognized and a USA Swimming Club Recognition Program Level 3 member.
CANES will build a solid foundation of technique-emphasized training from the novice to the National Team level and international competitor. Each athlete will receive individualized attention to improve swimming skills and achieve success at his or her level of ability. The coaching staff and swimmers will work together for greater individual success by encouraging teamwork, developing a strong work ethic, building self-confidence, and refining leadership skills.
