CANES is seeking a Head Age Group Coach to work with swimmers ages 11-17 on a daily basis. The coach will write both dryland and water training workouts.
Position Expectations:
Reports to the Head Coach
Minimum of 2-3 years of coaching experience preferred, and/or compete nationally as an athlete.
25-30 hours per week plus at least one meet per month. This position can expand to full-time for the right combination of skills.
Working knowledge of USA Swimming and FHSAA rules.
Working knowledge/application of stroke technique, swimmer development, and race strategy
Ability to create a season plan and incorporate training phases and multiple intervals into workouts.
Possess strong skills in public relations and written/verbal communications, good word
processing skills, and experience with swimming computer software.
Assists with planning and organizing hosted swim meets, team meetings, socials, training trips, and team social events.
Ability to work in sunny, hot, and humid environments for long periods. And train athletes safely in similar conditions. Ability to adapt the practice to changes in weather on short notice.
Certifications current or able to acquire upon hiring:
CPR. First Aid, Safety Training for Swim Coaches, Concussion Training, and membership in good standing with USA Swimming.
Athlete protection training, Safe Sport training, a background check through USA Swimming
Foundations of Coaching 101 and 201
Duties:
Coach a group of 13-17 YO A time through Sectionals swimmers daily, coach a group of B/BB swimmers daily
Coach group of advanced pre-competitive swimmers as needed
Coach masters swimmers as needed
Attend Staff meetings weekly
Office tasks related to meet entries, season planning, and communication with parents
Opportunity to increase responsibilities/hours based on performance.
Opportunity for additional income with private swim lessons (optional).

Mission Statement: Hurricane Aquatics is a safe and supportive environment that teaches swimmers of all ages and abilities to work together for greater success by encouraging teamwork, developing a strong work ethic, building self-confidence, and refining leadership skills.
Hurricane Aquatics is a full-service swim program at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL. The program was formed in 2003 with a learn-to-swim program and a recreational summer camp. 2014 Hurricane Aquatics (CANES) created a USA Swimming registered competitive team. Swimmers range in age and ability from 10 and under swimmers who can race at least a 200 IM through post-graduate/international competitors. CANES is a Safe Sport recognized and a USA Swimming Club Recognition Program Level 3 member.
CANES will build a solid foundation of technique-emphasized training from the novice to the National Team level and international competitor. Each athlete will receive individualized attention to improve swimming skills and achieve success at his or her level of ability. The coaching staff and swimmers will work together for greater individual success by encouraging teamwork, developing a strong work ethic, building self-confidence, and refining leadership skills.
