One in Mission Hills (Lower School JK-5), and a second in Linda Vista (Middle and Upper School 6-8 and 9-12, respectively).

Job Description:

Parker seeks an enthusiastic, dedicated and passionate individual to be responsible for all aspects of a safe, quality and equitable education-based aquatics program.


Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

The Aquatics Director is responsible for: (1) providing a safe, quality, and equitable education-based aquatics program for a range of skills and competitive levels; (2)  developing and overseeing the budget for the aquatics program, including making recommendations for purchases of necessary equipment, materials and supplies; and (3) overseeing and providing direction to the Lead Lifeguard and Pool Maintenance Coordinator who is responsible for the design, implementation, coordination, and general supervision of safety/emergency response protocols, risk management programs, and pool maintenance.

Specific responsibilities of the Aquatics Director include, but are not limited to:

  • Work closely with the Director of Athletics to develop and implement quality aquatics programs that align with the Mission, Vision, and Values of Parker;
  • Identify, hire, supervise and evaluate the Lead Lifeguard and Pool Maintenance Coordinator;
  • Collaborate with the Lead Lifeguard and Pool Maintenance Coordinator on the design and implementation of all safety protocols; 
  • Manage aquatics operations with available resources and within budget;
  • Ensure aquatics staff are properly trained and adhere to all safety standards and guidelines;
  • Resolve scheduling conflicts to ensure a safe pool environment when competing programs/priorities require the use of aquatic facilities;
  • Notify the Head of Operations and Director of Athletics when pool and/or equipment need to be repaired or replaced in order to maintain a properly working pool;
  • Participate in the selection and oversight of pool maintenance providers and ensure all contracted work is completed; and

·         Perform other duties as directed by the Director of Athletics or Head of Operations.



·         Minimum of ten years of relevant work experience that ideally includes serving as an Aquatics Director, pool manager, or supervising lifeguard;

  • Current First Aid/CPR Certification; 
  • Current Lifeguard Certification;
  • Certified Pool Operator Certificate or ability to obtain Certificate within the first six months of employment;
  • Exceptional management, leadership, and organization skills; 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage positively with all Parker community members;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Ability to remain professional and composed under deadline pressure while independently handling a multitude of duties and situations simultaneously, and respond with appropriate judgment;
  • Ability to work flexible schedules to include evenings, weekends, and special events as needed;
  • Experience with the maintenance and upkeep of a pool facility;
  • Familiarity with aquatic mechanical, filtration and sanitation systems;
  • Thorough knowledge and application of swimming and water safety skills;
  • Ability to respond quickly during emergency situations; and

·         Ability to actively collaborate with all school constituencies and problem-solve both independently as well as in a team environment.


Salary and Benefits:

Francis Parker School is committed to attracting and retaining the highest quality faculty and staff through a substantial compensation plan, including competitive salary, TIAA retirement benefits and full medical/dental coverage. Individual salary is negotiable depending on years of experience and educational background.

Salary Range: $95,000 - $105,000 per year, based on experience.
