Job Posting Summary:

 

Ensworth School is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Director of Swim Academy and Natatorium Operations to oversee all aspects of the swim lesson programming and the operations of the natatorium. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong foundation for teaching swim lessons and managing swim lesson programming, effective leadership and communication skills, comprehensive knowledge of swim safety protocols, and a passion for fostering skill development among students and the community through swim instruction.

 

Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

·       Abides by Ensworth’s Employee Handbook and Code of Conduct

·       Other duties as assigned

 

·       Swim Lesson Program Management:

o   Recruit, train, and manage a team of qualified swim instructors to deliver high-quality lessons following established curriculum guidelines

o   Create lesson plans, track progress, and evaluate the effectiveness of the swim lesson program

o   Design and implement both a learn-to-swim lesson program and also lessons designed to drive Ensworth’s interscholastic swim program forward

o   Coordinate scheduling, registration, and communication with participants and parents/guardians regarding lesson details and progress updates

o   Manage the aquatics program budget, overseeing expenses related to the swim lesson program, equipment procurement, maintenance, and operational needs

·       Aquatics Staff Oversight

o   Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate swim instructors and lifeguards to ensure adherence to safety protocols, effective teaching methods, and positive engagement with participants

o   Conduct regular staff meetings, training sessions, and performance evaluations to maintain high-quality instruction and safety standards

o    

 

o   Enforce safety regulations, emergency procedures, and pool rules to provide a secure environment for all participants and staff

·       Facility Maintenance and Community Engagement:

o   Ensure proper maintenance and cleanliness of the aquatic facilities, including pools, equipment, and surrounding areas

o   Collaborate with school administrators to promote the swim lesson offerings to students, parents, and the wider community

o   Organize community outreach programs, workshops, and promotional events to attract participants and promote water safety and swim skill development

o   Works in conjunction with the Director of Auxiliary Programs to ensure that Swim School operations coordinate with other Ensworth offerings.  

·       Administrative Duties:

o   Maintain accurate records of program participation, certifications, and incident reports

o   Prepare reports, proposals, and presentations as required by school administration and stakeholders

o   Assist in developing long-term strategic plans to enhance the aquatics program's growth and impact within the school community

 

Qualifications/Experience:

·       Must have a Bachelor’s degree

·       CPR and first aid certifications required; lifeguard certification preferred

·       Certified Pool Operator (CPO) and Certified Aquatic Facility Operator (CAFO) certifications preferred

·       Minimum of 5 years of experience in aquatics management, with a proven track record of swim program development

·       Basic understanding and ability to use computers and technology including (e.g., Microsoft Windows and Office products, basic office equipment, projectors, mechanical equipment, etc.)

·       Well-developed interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with all constituents in a school environment, including students,

co-workers, parents, alumni, volunteers, and the public.

·       Adaptability, honesty, self-reliance, teamwork, dependability, flexibility, willingness to listen and learn, work ethic, determination, persistence, problem-solving skills, loyalty, and congeniality are essential.

·       Must successfully complete background screening and verification

·       Continued Education Programs (as required by Grade Level and/or position) – Periodically participate in different training sessions identified by you, the employee and/or Divisional Leadership/Supervisor with the goal of keeping our teachers and staff up to date with current teaching methods, practices and any new knowledge in their respective field. Dependent on the program, such training may need to take place outside of normal working hours and/or in the summer months.

 

 

 

 

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

·       Frequently works in standard office and climate, on pool deck, and in the water

·       Regularly exposed to environmental temperature changes and must be able to adjust clothing layers accordingly.

·       Frequent exposure to chlorine and other pool chemicals

·       Frequently required to go from sitting to standing, moving around the facility to meet varying needs, including going up and down stairs, getting on the floor, and in the water

·       Stamina and physical strength to perform all physical requirements associated with the lifeguard and lifeguard training certifications

·       Ability to occasionally move items/students weighing up to 50 lbs.

·       Occasionally works in a stressful and volatile work environment, effectively dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts

·       Stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions required

·       Ability to regularly work flexible hours to support before and after-school or weekend events

·       Ensworth requires employees to be physically present on campus, with limited exceptions that are at the sole discretion of the School. Under extraordinary circumstances, some or all of the workforce may be required to move to a remote working environment. Additionally, certain individuals may also be approved for limited remote work, based on the nature of the job description, specific circumstances, and only with written prior approval by a direct supervisor.
