Position Title: Full-time Head Age Group Coach

Reporting to: Head Coach 

Status: Exempt

Starting Salary: $35,000 - $45,000

Bonus Eligible: Yes

The Newburgh Sea Creatures were founded in 1970 with the vision of creating a competitive swim team to provide athletes of Southern Indiana the opportunity to excel in aquatic sports.  Servicing more than 200 swimmers between the competitive team and non-competitive team, NSC provides swimming opportunities to people of all ages. The team competes at the local, state, and national level operating under the rules and regulations of USA Swimming, Indiana Swimming, and the Southern Indiana Swim Conference. NSC alumni have gone on to swim at the collegiate level, on the National Team, and in the Olympics.  In addition, it is our organization's mission to provide learn-to-swim, adult fitness, and recreational swimming programs for the community. 

 

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced individual to join our team as the Head Age Group Coach.  The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, along with a proven record of success in coaching competitive swimmers. Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain relationships and open communications with swimmers and parents.  

  • Management and running of daily practices in a direction that supports the coaching philosophy and direction of the program as established by the head coach.  

  • Work with the Head Coach to manage group placement and advancement of athletes.   

  • Work with the Head Coach for stroke and training principles.

  • Offer individual meetings with swimmers at the age group level.

  • Assist and observe other training groups as needed.  

  • With the guidance of the Head Coach, oversee development and progression of the Age Group Program.   

  • Coaching of Age Group Athletes at all home and away meets. Including but not limited to meet entries and communications for meets with the age group program.  

  • Regular meeting with the Head Coach to outline development progressions, practice sessions, meet schedules, and to discuss challenges and opportunities within the program.  These meetings should also ensure that the management of the group and program remains unified in one direction.  

  • Drives team spirit with planning and executing team building activities through collaboration with the Head Coach,  

  • Attend coaching clinics and continuing education programs.

 

  • Cultivate a positive team atmosphere.



Qualifications & Requirements

  • Competitive Swimming Experience 

  • Coaching Experience at the Age Group and / or Senior Level 

  • All certifications are current and in good standing with USA Swimming.

  • ASCA Certified, Level 2+ preferred.

  • Detail oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities.

  • Solid knowledge of stroke technique and training physiology.

  • Passion and enthusiasm for competitive swimming and youth mentoring.
