Competitive youth swim team located on US Navy Base Yokosuka, Japan (Kanagawa Prefecture).
We are seeking SWIM COACHES & DRYLAND COACH(ES) for our team.
Season runs Aug-early June.
SCHEDULE: varies upon team assignment, but this is a part-time position with
- Practices from 3pm-6pm MWThF, 2pm-5pm Tu. 6-7am M-F.
- Our practice teams typically train T/Th (beginner), MWF (intermediate), M-F (advanced)
- Potential Saturday morning clinics.
- 5 home meets a year (Oct, Dec, Feb, Apr, Jun)
- Various swim meets located around Tokyo area (optional)
- Various team-buiilding socal events (optional)
REQUIREMENTS FOR COACHES:
- Swim: competitive swim experience
- Swim: up-to-date knowledge of all 4 swim strokes, starts, turns, technique, rules
- Swim: willing to get in the water during practice to demonstrate & give corrections
- Dryland: personal training or group X certification or equivalent
- Communication/email skills to communicate with team, parents, board
- Knowledge of how swim meets work & how to build relays & swimmer meet events
- Willingness to collaborate together, good problem solver, open mindset
- Able to coach solo as well as with another coach. Willing to sub for other coaches if needed
- Good attitude, loves swimming, loves people & NO DRAMA
PREFERRED:
- Competitive swim team coaching experience
- Swim Instructor experience
- Experience teaching or coaching children
- Red Cross certifications: lifeguard, WSI, BLS, etc
- USA Swimming coach certifications
COACH PAY:
- Volunteer coaching or paid options available!
- Hourly pay, paid monthly. Commensurate upon experience, starting at $15/hr, per diem for away meets on mainland Japan.
OTHER:
- Coaches will be required to complete SafeSport or background checks & will need private swim coaching insurance before starting (can be obtained on your own or through our Head Coach policy)
- Coaches are given up to 4 hours admin time per month for administrative tasks related to meet entries for your assigned swimmers, coach meetings (1hr/mo), parent communication, etc
- We are a parent-run team with a volunteer swim board
- No relocation assistance
- Must have base access
