Tri-City Channel Cats Part Time Position Assistant Coach

Schedule: Varies by group and season. Sept-April(SC) 5:00-6:00pm, May-June(LC) 3:30-5:30pm, June-July(LC) 5:45-7:45am

Job Description: Assistant swim coach will provide support to the head site coach and athletes on the Tri-City Channel Cats. Assistant coach may coach on their own, or in conjunction with other coaches on deck.

Requirements:

  • Current USA Swimming Coaching Certifications in good standing, or the ability to complete USA Swimming Swimming Coaching Certification prior to employment
  • Current American Red Cross (or USA Swimming recognized equivalent) CPR, First Aid, Safety Training for Swim Coaches; Concussion Protocol Training, Background Check, USADA Coaches Advantage, Athlete Protection Training, USA Swimming Coaching courses, or the ability to complete these items prior to employment

Preferred:

  • Knowledgeable in swim instruction and coaching, with an eye for teaching and correcting technique in all four strokes, starts, turns, and finishes
  • Ability to work with young swimmers of varying abilities
  • Ability to balance enthusiasm and patience, with focus on improving athlete technique while keeping the sport fun
  • Ability to exhibit team values of hard work, the pursuit of excellence, and mutual respect for athletes, coaching staff and competitors, performance, sportsmanship and athlete protection
  • Ability and willingness to travel to local and away swim meets (predominantly within Washington and Idaho)
  • Ability to communicate clearly with athletes, parents, other coaching staff
  • Competitive swimming and/or coaching experience, OR swim instruction experience
  • Ability to motivate others toward pursuing team goals and building the team
  • Highly collaborative and committed to working with other coaching staff to better the team and individual athletes
  • Committed to fostering an inclusive environment that values diversity and equity
  • Able to ensure the health and safety of all patrons in and around the pool

Rate of Pay: Starting at $20/hr on deck. Swim meet expenses including session pay, food, mileage, and hotel expenses.
