Job Description

Atomic City Aquatic Club (ACAC) has an opening for a motivated and enthusiastic Lead Age Group Coach. As the Lead Age Group Coach, you will play a crucial role in developing young swimmers' skills, confidence and love for the sport of swimming. Your primary responsibility will be to create a safe, engaging and supportive environment where young athletes can learn and grow both as individuals and as swimmers.

The Lead Age Group Coach reports to the Head Coach and is responsible for teaching 12 & under swimmers and encouraging improvement at all levels of the organization and maintaining the highest safety standard at all times. We value creativity, collaboration and positive communication as methods of building relationships and learning together. 

Responsibilities 

  • Coach and assist 1-2 training groups per day, primarily consisting of age group swimmers ages 8-12 years of age.

  • Attend 1-2 swim meets per month.

  • Maintain professional and open communication with fellow staff members, athletes, and parents to ensure effective team operations.

  • Learn and employ team language for dryland and swimming skills.

  • Cultivate a welcoming environment for new athletes with the goal of team growth & loyalty.

  • Promote and support the team philosophy and direction of the club.

Requirements 

  • Coaching membership in good standing with USA swimming.

  • Minimum 2+ years coaching experience, preferably in USA swimming.

  • Knowledge of swimming techniques, training methods, and competitive swimming rules. Preferably competitive swimming experience. 

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with children and parents/guardians and other coaches.

  • Red Cross Lifeguarding, CPR and First Aid certification.

  • Ability to create a positive and encouraging environment while inspiring swimmers to improve through appropriate challenges.

  • Develop athleticism and leadership within our team culture.

Potential for professional growth through educational opportunities and evolution of the role, as desired, including more responsibility, income and tasks that inspire and motivate you as a coach. Starting can be full time or part time. Dedication to 2 year cycle preferred.
