Head Age Group Coach

High Point Swim Club “Polar Bears”, based in High Point NC, is looking for a fun, positive, energetic, flexible, passionate, team-oriented and self-motivated Head Age Group coach to lead our 13 and under program. High Point Swim Club is a Volunteer Parent Board run 501-3(c) non-profit organization.  We own and train at our own facility “the Igloo” a  5 lane 25m plus 4 12.5m lanes indoors during the winter. As well as lanes space at the Hartley Drive YMCA. During Summers we also utilize a 8 lane 50m pool located 15 minutes from our home pool.

The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of stroke mechanics and training techniques and be willing to think “outside the box”. This candidate will also be able to communicate effectively and timely with the coaching staff, swimmers and parents as needed.

This is a full-time position paying $32,000-40,000 per year (commensurate with experience) with medical stipend, phone stipend and retirement options available. High Point Swim Club will cover and/or reimburse approved travel expenses for away meets, certifications both required and supplemental, and continuing education through coaching clinics or USA Swimming online learning programs.

Duties include, but are not limited to: 

*Motivating swimmers of all ages to be great in a positive way

*Developing and implementing a seasonal plan for the groups assigned.

*Assisting with Pre-Senior, Senior and other groups as needed

*Meet administrative duties include, but are not limited to, verifying and sending entries for 

away meets in a timely manner, swim meet entry coordinator for home meets and eventual home meet 

setup following some training.

*After training fill in with meet manager rolls.

*Attending staff meetings as scheduled

*Attending swim meets locally and out of state. 2-3 per  

 month

*Attending High Point Swim Club team functions (Banquet, JO Party, etc.)

*Assisting in recruiting and attending swim clinics at local summer league pools in the        

area. (June-July only)

Requirements:

*Must have, or obtain prior to start date, all relevant USA Swimming coach certifications 

 (Adult & Pediatric/Child CPR and AED, Safety Training for Swim Coaches, USA 

 Swimming Background Check, Athlete Protection Training)

*Must pass Background Check

*Preferred, 3 years USA/YMCA coaching experience with 12 and Under 

 Swimmers

* Preferred, 2-4 years experience with Team Unify, Team Manager, and/or Meet Manager software.

*Must have/demonstrate professionalism, decision making skills, a willingness to follow 

 directives from Head Coach, Asst. Head Coach and/or Board.

*Must have a desire to learn and continue coaching education
