Job Description

Under the Board's direction and guidance, the full time position of Executive Director at EMAC is responsible for steering both the competitive and learn-to-swim programs, overseeing facility management personnel, alongside managing the day-to-day business operations. This role involves crafting and executing strategies for the holistic development and success of all swimmers, guiding and enhancing the coaching team's capabilities, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards, and providing outstanding service and support to members, swimmers, customers, and staff.

 

This leadership role is pivotal in upholding the Vision, Values, and Behaviors of the club. As the Executive Director, this role entails providing exceptional leadership, initiating development programs, and setting strategic directions that shape and enhance all aspects of EMAC's operations and offerings.

 

Team Culture Responsibility:

  • Foster a culture of collaboration and mutual respect with coaches, staff, and fellow club leaders, prioritizing the collective success of the business and its members
  • Employ outstanding motivational techniques consistently, positively influencing swimmers, parents, and coaching staff across all program facets
  • Cultivate team cohesion by maintaining a positive demeanor and actively promoting teamwork
  • Communicate promptly, respectfully, and cooperatively with swimmers, parents, community members, and staff, fostering strong connections and understanding

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Foster a dynamic and collaborative relationship with the Board, providing essential feedback and input on organizational requirements and needs, while effectively communicating progress in achieving the vision and fulfilling key responsibilities
  • Collaborate and recommend updates to/with the Board with regard to company policies driving continuous improvement and ensuring alignment with industry best practices and regulatory compliance
  • Direct and lead the various programs and staff to reach the organization’s vision
  • Develop and maintain an annual organizational calendar encompassing all programs, ensuring thorough planning and effective communication with staff and volunteers for smooth and coordinated execution of events and activities
  • Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive HR practices and procedures, ensuring they are aligned with organizational goals and adhere to legal and ethical standards while fostering a positive and productive work environment
  • Recruit, Manage, Mentor, and Evaluate direct reports
  • Implement and maintain a comprehensive staff growth and development plan
  • Effectively manage and nurture relationships with stakeholders, ensuring strong communication, understanding their needs, and building partnerships that support the organization's goals and enhance its reputation.
  • Ensure the Learn to Swarm Director, Director of the Competitive Swim Program and Facilities Director are managing, mentoring and evaluating their direct reports
  • Conduct regular 1:1 and team meetings with direct reports providing guidance and an opportunity for learning and feedback
  • Develop annual budget and collaborate with Treasurer
  • Ensure efficient allocation and stringent management of the budget and expenses to maximize profitability and sustainability
  • Ensure event administrative and coordination needs and requirements are met both internally and externally

 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of Executive Director or related experience
  • Proven leader and developer of staff
  • Demonstrated ability in administrative skills and understanding of budgets
  • Solid interpersonal communication skills and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with athletes of all ages as well as staff and families
