Under the Executive Director’s direction and guidance, the Director of the Competitive Swim Program at EMAC is directly responsible for running and managing the competitive, developmental and recreational swimming programs under the Emmaus Aquatic Club umbrella.
This leadership role is pivotal in upholding the Vision, Values, and Behaviors of the club. As the Director of the Competitive Swim Program, this role entails providing exceptional leadership that shapes and enhances all aspects of EMAC's competitive swimming program.

Key Responsibilities:
- Recruit, Manage, Mentor, and Evaluate direct reports
- Implement and maintain a comprehensive staff growth and development plan
- Ensure the Lead Senior Coach and Head Age Group Coach are managing, mentoring and evaluating their direct reports
- Conduct regular 1:1 and staff meetings with direct reports providing guidance and an opportunity for learning and feedback
- Develop, design, and implement a coaching program that ensures consistent standards across levels of the entire competitive team, and design a competitive swimming plan that fits within the scope of each group's goals and objectives while focusing on long-term athlete development (LTAD).
- Assist lead coaches in the design of their seasonal plans for their respective group that fits within the scope of group goals and objectives and LTAD
- Produce the seasonal group practice schedules that ensures prudent use of space and resources as well as their ability to work within the framework of the group goals and objectives
- Directly work with coaches on a regular basis to help support their respective group and provide guidance for on-deck coaching techniques
- Ensure efficient allocation and stringent management of the budget and expenses of the competitive swimming program
- Review program expenses on a quarterly basis as it relates to staffing needs and services provided to the membership and make recommendations to the Executive Director for setting the monthly dues for the various programing options
- Prepare monthly status reports for distribution to the Board at their regular meetings and attend Board meetings when requested by the Executive Director or Chair of the Board.
- Forge and maintain strong relationships with USA-S, and Middle Atlantic LSC, other local USA Swimming (USA-S) Clubs, and local summer league teams.
- Ensure event administrative and coordination needs and requirements are met both internally and externally
- Oversight of meet management from the swimmer perspective and working closely with meet committee to organize and deliver successful meets
- Collaborate with meet committee to establish hosted meet schedule and submission of required documents to Middle Atlantic LSC.
- Manage and schedule coaching assignments for meet attendance and coordination with administrative staff to reserve lodging for staff and key personnel at away meets.
- Attend and present at the annual open membership meeting on the results and success of the past year and plans for the upcoming season.
- Oversight of regular communications to members/families
- Maintain compliance with USA Swimming coaching standards
- Follow all USA-S policies including SafeSport as well as ensuring all EMAC coaches and club are compliant
Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of head coaching experience at medium to large USA Swimming club
- Proven leader and developer of coaching staff
- Knowledge of designing and implementing seasonal training plans
- Demonstrated ability in administrative skills and understanding of budgets
- Solid interpersonal communication skills and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with athletes of all ages as well as staff and families
- Current USA Swimming Coach Member certifications and in good standing
- ASCA level 3 or higher certification, preferred
