Title: Splash Academy Coach

Reports to: Assistant Director of Swimming

Position Status: Part Time

Payroll Status: Hourly

JOB SUMMARY: A Splash Academy Coach is responsible for coaching and developing young swimmers, focusing on foundational swimming skills and techniques. The position involves enacting engaging lesson plans provided by STJ, motivating young athletes, and instructing them in the basics of competitive swimming in a fun and supportive environment while helping the Athletes strive to reach goals outlined by the program.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Implement age-appropriate lesson plans and practice sessions focusing on foundational swimming skills in an active and engaging manner.
2. Provide instruction on swimming techniques that align with the overall program objectives.
3. Monitor and assess swimmers’ skills, providing feedback and encouragement to help them improve.
4. Be able/willing to provide instruction both in and out of the water.
5. Maintain regular and timely attendance for all scheduled practices and events.
6. Be able to commit to full four-week sessions
7. Foster a welcoming and encouraging environment to promote swimmer retention and enjoyment of the sport.
8. Enforce facility and team rules to ensure a safe and respectful training environment.
9. Attend meetings and trainings as required to maintain certifications and improve coaching skills.
10. Represent the swim team professionally and uphold its standards and policies.
11. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• *Preferred* Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification
• *Preferred* USA Swimming Coaching Certification
• 1-3 years of swim coaching or competitive swimming experience preferred.
