Rockfish Swimming in Leonardtown, MD is looking for assistant coaches for our competitive swim team! Rockfish has swimmers of a wide range of abilities from the ages of 7-18. We have a variety of practice schedules to accommodate our 4 training groups. Rockfish is a growing team with awesome swimmers and families!
Assistant coach job duties include but are not limited to:
- Report directly to the Head Coach
- Responsible for coaching the assigned age group and ability level.
- Responsible for planning training and swimmer development for the assigned group.
- Oversee seasonal progression of athletes, set goals with swimmers, monitor phases of development with individual swimmers
- Establishes an environment that fosters positive team attitudes, encourages self-discipline, sportsmanship, and responsibility
- Encourage meet and practice attendance
- Submit meet entries for swimmers in a timely manner
- Prompt attendance at all scheduled practices and swim meets
- Attend swim meets as requested by the Head Coach and be responsible for coaching all
- Rockfish swimmers participating at the meet regardless of age group
- Work with the Head Coach to grow membership
- Has authority to discipline swimmers in accordance with the team Discipline Policy
Communication:
- Maintain professional relationships with the Head Coach and coaching staff
- Communicate with Head Coach regularly
- Communicate regularly and appropriately with swim families in assigned group regarding upcoming swim meets, schedule changes and swimmer accomplishments via email and on the Rockfish Social Media sites
- As needed and within reason make yourself available before and after practice to discuss swimmer progress with swimmers and/or parents
Administration
- Adhere to and enforce team policies and procedures with general membership and coaching staff
- Actively support in marketing and fundraising efforts
- Communicate budget needs for the fiscal year to the Head Coach
- Keep track of coaching hours (practice and meets) and submit them by deadline
- Provide timely reimbursement receipts associated with travel, lodging, and professional expenses incurred on behalf of the organization
Work Hours:
The Assistant Coach position is required to be present at evening practices and attendance at some weekend meets (as assigned by head coach). Hours range from 2-20 per week dependent on the the group you are assigned coached.
Salary/Compensation:
Salary Starts at $20.00 per hour. Rate may be increased based on candidate's experience. Swim meets are $100/session stipend (not hourly rate).
