About Us: The St. Louis Tsunami is a vibrant and dynamic youth swim team with approximately 60 swimmers aged 8 to 18. Our team is dedicated to fostering a love for swimming, promoting teamwork, and helping swimmers achieve their personal and competitive goals. We are looking for an energetic and motivated Assistant Swim Coach to join our coaching team.

 

Tsunami Swim Team is based in Webster Groves, MO and practices at the Webster University recreation complex weeknights (Monday through Thursday) for approximately 2 hours.

Job Description:

Position Summary: We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Assistant Swim Coach to assist in leading our youth swim team. This part-time position requires approximately 10 hours per week of coaching during evening practices, with a commitment of 1 weekend per month to attend and coach at local swim meets. The ideal candidate will have a significant background in competitive swimming and coaching, with a passion for developing young athletes.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head Coach in planning and conducting swim practices.
  • Provide constructive feedback and technical instruction to swimmers.
  • Foster a positive and encouraging environment for all team members.
  • Monitor swimmers’ progress and adjust training programs as necessary.
  • Attend and assist the head coach at local swim meets, ensuring team organization and swimmer preparedness.
  • Uphold the team’s standards and USA Swimming regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with swimmers, parents, and other coaches.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of competitive swim team experience.
  • At least 1 year of prior coaching experience, preferably with a youth swim team.
  • USA Swimming certification is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of stroke techniques, swimming rules, and training methods.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to engage and motivate young athletes.
  • CPR and First Aid certification is preferred.
