Job Description

ElitSwim Club (ELIT) seeks an energetic and self-motivated individual for the position of Associate Head Coach. If you want to build your coaching career and get immersed in the world of performance swimming, then this is the place to be. Our ideal candidate possesses both a strong work ethic and a strong desire to learn the craft of coaching.  

Position Details Associate Head Coach:
 This position will be responsible for being our - Senior Group's lead coach and assisting with our Age Group Practice groups. (Running / assisting between 6-8 practices per week.) The position will also include leading weekly dryland practices based on the planned program.
The Associate Head Coach will work directly with the ELIT Head Coach in fostering an environment where all swimmers feel valued and heard, and their families feel part of a caring, inclusive, and supportive community. The mental wellness of our swimmers is a very important aspect of our coaching philosophy.

Location: San Ramon, CA

Qualifications
  • Deep passion for the sport of swimming and a commitment to developing young athletes.
  • Experience as a competitive swimmer.
  • Desire 3+ years of experience in competitive swim coaching.  Willing to consider a combination of a competitive swimming background and less than 3 years of coaching for the right candidate.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to maintain positive relationships with athletes, coaches, and parents.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with the latest coaching techniques.
  • Good organizational skills with an attention to detail.
  • Ability to create a supportive environment, fostering a love for the sport and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Experience and/or a willingness to learn the team management software platform Team Unify/Go Motion.
  • USA Swimming Coach active membership, or willingness to get certified, before the first swim meet.
  • CPR/AED & Lifeguard Certified
Responsibilities: 
  • Promotes and encourages a positive, progressive, inclusive, and supportive culture. 
  • Strives to enhance coaching capabilities and professionalism through continuous learning from the ELIT Head Coach.
  • Reports directly to the ELIT Head Coach 
  • Ensures ELIT and its members operate in compliance and follow the policies and procedures of USA Swimming, Pacific Swimming, and ElitSwim Club. (background checks, membership, etc.).
  • Communicate effectively with parents, swimmers, and other coaches (email, phone, face-to-face).
  • Develop meet attendance schedule and enroll swimmers.
  • Attend all scheduled swim meets, meetings, and team functions as required.
  • Collaborate with the coaching staff and board to manage the day-to-day operations of the Club and contribute to its long-term development.
  • Represent ELIT in a professional manner through image, dress, communication, and immediate follow-through and response.
  • Conduct yourself with integrity, fostering positive relationships with athletes, parents, caregivers, officials, and fellow ELIT staff.
  • Perform and complete other duties and projects as assigned by the ELIT Head Coach.
Additional Information
  • Preferred start date:  February-March 2025. The position will remain open until filled. U.S. candidates only. We cannot provide a work visa.

  • Compensation:  Competitive salary based on experience.

  • Work Schedule:  Full-time position.  The schedule will vary based on season and business needs.  This position description is not all-inclusive and may include other duties as assigned.

ElitSwim Club (ELIT) is a fast-growing, 501(c)(3) non-profit 501(c)(3) USA Swimming affiliate Club.
Currently, the company includes two more successful programs a) a year-round pre-competitive swim team since 2013 and b) an awarded swim lessons contract for the City of San Ramon, CA, since 2018. Offering swim lessons for all ages, performing an average of 12,000+ lessons per season.


At ElitSwim Club, our focus is not just on competition but on developing well-rounded athletes. Our year-round competitive program emphasizes comprehensive training that includes nutritional education, an innovative mental approach to both training and racing, and a variety of dry land exercises designed for injury prevention and strength conditioning. Our primary training facility is the Dougherty Valley Aquatic CenterDVAC/DVHS, and the secondary is the San Ramon Olympic Pool/Cal High, both located in San Ramon, CA.
