Camp Watitoh, an ACA accredited co-ed residential summer camp in the Berkshire Mountains of Massachusetts, seeks a qualified candidate to oversee all waterfront operations. This is a seasonal position, contracted from May 31st to August 10th with a potential to extend through August 25th. The position includes a salary, travel stipend, room, and board. Applicants must be lifeguard certified. Position has one day off per week, with two nights "On Duty" per week in case of emergency around camp with another member of our leadership team.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: managing a staff of lifeguards and swim/boating instructors, overseeing the safety of the waterfront during all swim sessions, ensuring campers and staff are swim assessed, overseeing swim instruction, overseeing equipment usage and functionality, managing time off schedules for staff in collaboration with the Head Counselors, managing and overseeing intercamp swim meets, assisting with special events, and planning/executing rainy day programming.
The Waterfront Director directly oversees a staff of lifeguards and is responsible for the health and safety of staff and campers in and around the waterfront area of camp. Campers will vary in age (7-15) and skill level. A day at the waterfront typically includes two hour-long sessions of instructional swim in the morning, an hour-long elective period after lunch, and two hour-long general swim sessions in the afternoon.
Camp Watitoh is a coed residential camp located in the Berkshire Mountains of Massachusetts. The daily program includes both land and water sports. Girls and boys participate in program activities separately and then join together as a whole camp for meals, free time and evening activities. Cabins of the same age are scheduled for daily activities as a group. An hour-long elective period, during which each camper chooses his or her preferred activity highlights the afternoon
