Job Description

The head swim coach at Itasca Country Club is responsible for overseeing the swim team's operations, including training sessions, competitive strategies, and swimmer development. The coach also plays a key role in fostering a sense of community and team spirit among members, while focusing on improving swimmers' techniques and competitive performance. The Country Club floats between a competitive and recreational atmosphere. The coach we are looking for can excel at both of those atmosphere's.

Success Profile: 

  • Team Leadership: Ability to inspire, motivate, and lead a diverse group of swimmers, fostering a positive team culture.

  • Program Management: Efficiently manage resources, schedules, and events. This includes planning practices, meets, and ensuring all activities align with the club's objectives.

  • Swimming Knowledge: Deep understanding of stroke mechanics, training methodologies, and competitive strategies to enhance swimmers' performance.

  • Coaching Techniques: Ability to tailor coaching methods to individual swimmers' needs, from beginners to competitive athletes, focusing on technique, conditioning, and mental preparation.

  • Safety and Compliance: Ensuring all practices and meets adhere to safety regulations and health standards.

  • Parent and Swimmer Relations: Excellent communication skills to build trust with parents and swimmers, providing feedback, setting expectations, and managing conflicts.

  • Program Growth: Measurable growth in team size, skill level, and overall participation in club activities.

  • Networking: Establishing connections with other coaches, clubs, and swimming associations to keep the program competitive and up-to-date with best practices.

Qualifications and Requirements: 

  • Coaching Experience: Several years of experience coaching competitive swimming at the club, high school, or college level.

  • Swimming Background: Preferably a background as a competitive swimmer, providing firsthand knowledge of the sport.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with swimmers, parents, club members, and other staff.

  • Willingness to commit to the time demands of the role, which can include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and travel for competitions.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire team members to deliver exceptional service 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability and desire to interact professionally with customers, staff and colleagues 

  • Team player with a positive attitude who will present a positive image of the Club 

  • Proactively and effectively diagnoses, prioritizes and solves issues

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Seasonal

Pay: From $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
