Under the direction and guidance of the Head Coach, this role will lead the age group
program (Bronze, Silver, or Gold). This is a leadership position where you will lead and
train the coaching staff in your group as well as coach swimmers.
Head Age Group Coach Responsibilities:
- Model and celebrate NHA values and behaviors
- Have passion for coaching and working with athletes
- Be exceptional in the application of positive, consistent, and effective motivation
strategies when working with swimmers, parents, and coaching staff in relation to
all aspects of the program.
- Develop and execute workouts with daily, weekly, monthly, and season goals
and objectives in mind, striving to help athletes hit targets by providing a training
program designed to help meet those needs.
- Foster team spirit by exhibiting and maintaining a positive attitude and actively
planning and participating in team events, including meets, celebrations, and
fundraising activities.
- Demonstrate a cooperative, prompt, and respectful communication style with
swimmers, parents, and staff.
- Complete entries for athletes prior to deadlines
- Create challenging and engaging workouts for daily practice sessions
- Maintain group attendance via On-Deck
- Be an energetic, compassionate teacher and a strong motivator capable of
molding successful swimmers in and out of the water.
- Be willing and available to assist with setup and tear-down for home meets.
- Respond promptly and professionally to parent communications.
- Conduct team clinics and tryouts to ensure appropriate group placement for new
athletes.
Staff Expectations:
- Staff will be present for 90% of all practices each month.
- Coaches are expected to assist with meets as indicated on the schedule on the
team website.
- Staff will be on deck for at least ten meet sessions for the short course season
and at least five sessions during the long course season.
- Maintain compliance with USA Swimming coaching standards.
- Timesheets completed no later than the 3rd of the following month.
