Job Summary: We are seeking an enthusiastic and supportive Assistant 11-14 Age Group Coach to inspire and guide our young swimmers. This role will focus on supporting the growth and development of our 11-14 swimmers while emphasizing stroke technique, teamwork, and a positive team environment.
Responsibilities:
● On-Deck Coaching (11-14 Age Group Focus):
○ Support daily training sessions for the assigned 11-14 age group, emphasizing stroke technique, starts, turns, and overall technical development.
○ Encourage a positive and supportive learning environment to foster a love for swimming.
○ Assisting in implementing age-appropriate training plans and offering individualized feedback to each swimmer.
● Swimmer Development:
○ Assist in monitoring and evaluating swimmer progress, providing constructive feedback and positive reinforcement.
○ Support in introducing and reinforcing proper technique progressions and fostering a love of the sport.
● Communication & Parent Engagement:
○ Assist with weekly communication to the squad, providing updates on training, upcoming events, and swimmer accomplishments.
○ Support in maintaining open and effective communication with parents, addressing questions and concerns as needed.
○ Assisting in communicating practice and meet information.
● Meet Support:
○ Attend designated meets, providing coaching and support to 11-14 swimmers.
○ Assist with meet preparation, including warm-ups and race strategies, and provide feedback to athletes after each race.
● Team Collaboration:
○ Support in working collaboratively with other coaches and staff to ensure the overall success of the THSC program.
○ Assisting with other groups as needed.
Desired Qualifications:
● Competitive swimming experience or a strong understanding of competitive swimming techniques.
● Preferably, experience coaching or working with young athletes aged 11-14.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with young athletes and their families.
● Ability to support clear and engaging communication for parents.
● Patient, supportive, and positive coaching style.
● Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
● Passion for developing young swimmers and fostering a positive team environment.
● Current USA Swimming Coach certification.
Schedule:
● Part-time position with specific hours to be determined.
● Practices typically occur in the afternoons and/or evenings, with Saturday mornings, and attendance at designated weekend meets.
