Job Description

Location: Sacramento, California  
Position Type: Part-time/Seasonal
Reports To: Head Coach & Board of Directors

Job Overview

Arden Park Dolphins Swim Team is seeking a passionate and energetic Assistant Swim Coach to support the development of swimmers in a fun, inclusive, and competitive environment. The Assistant Coach will work closely with the Head Coach to conduct practices, provide technical instruction, and foster a positive team culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and conducting swim practices for all skill levels.
  • Provide stroke instruction, technique correction, and encouragement to swimmers.
  • Ensure a safe and supportive environment for all athletes.
  • Help organize and supervise swim meets, including warm-ups and race strategy.
  • Encourage sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth among swimmers.
  • Communicate effectively with swimmers, parents, coaching staff, and board members.
  • Assist with team events, fundraisers, and community engagement activities as needed.

Qualifications

  • Prior competitive swimming experience preferred.
  • Previous coaching or swim instruction experience is preferred.
  • Ability to work well with children and teenagers in a team setting.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of proper swim techniques, drills, and training principles.
  • CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Must pass a Live Scan background check.

Schedule & Compensation

  • Practices:
    • March: Mon – Thurs, approx. 4 – 7 PM
    • April thru early August: Mon – Fri, approx. 4 – 8:45 PM
    • June thru early August: Mon/Wed/Fri, approx. 7-9 AM
  • Saturday Swim Meets:
    • 5/10, 5/17, 5/31, 6/7, 6/21, 6/28, 7/12
  • Championships & Meet of Champs:
    • 7/26-7/27    and    8/2-8/3
  • Other Team Events as Necessary
  • Pay is $16.5 - $18/hr. depending on experience
