Job Description

Atomic City Aquatic Club (ACAC) has an immediate opening for a motivated and enthusiastic Head Swim Coach. The Head Coach will design, implement, and be responsible for all levels of the swimming program while encouraging improvement within the various ages and ability levels, and maintaining the highest safety standard at all times. The Head Coach is expected to be fully involved in other duties and activities as part of the staff team.

Description of the Duties of the Head Coach will include but may not be limited to:

General Responsibilities and Team Administration

·      Establish program structure and practice groups.
·      Design and/or oversees all training groups: season and daily workout plans.
·      Establish practice schedule for program levels.
·      Regular standing member of the Club’s BOD and required to attend monthly meetings.
·      Prepare a monthly report to the BOD.
·      Maintain regular office hours and be available for prearranged parent/athlete conferences.
·      Conducts at least one general membership meeting annually to the ACAC membership.
·      Develop team calendar of events including meet attendance.
·      Handle, delegate and/or oversee the following: meet information, meet results, meet publicity, team travel, best times, team records, team files, newsletter/team communication, roster, and media contacts.
·      Is a positive role model for young people by demonstrating values, lifestyle choices, personal habits and a work ethic that promotes success.
·      Provides input to seasonal budget.
·      Assists the ACAC BOD with parent education efforts.
·      Abides by both the ASCA Code of Ethics and the USA Swimming Code of Conduct.

Direct Coaching Responsibilities

·      Directly coaches at least one level.
·      Plans, prepares, and conducts team practices in accordance with program strategies, objectives, guidelines, and policies.
·      Has prompt attendance at workouts and meets.
·      Prepares swimmers' meet entries.
·      Maintains swimmers' attendance records.
·      Maintains practice log/skill list for each team level.
·      Makes recommendations for practice level placement and changes.

Recruiting and External Relations

·      Lead recruiting and retention efforts for the organization.
·      Maintain a working relationship with the Greater Knoxville Area Interclub Swimming Association and local high school swimming programs.
·      Provides input for press releases and is the main contact for media inquiries.
·      Assist in fundraising.

Staff Development:

·      Hires, supervises, trains, motivates and evaluates the staff under approval of ACAC BOD.
·      Determine responsibilities and job description for all coaches.
·      Work with assistant coaches to develop and administer appropriate training plans.
·      Monitor each practice group at least weekly to observe training techniques being used and evaluate swimmers for movement of different training groups.
·      Conducts regular staff meetings.
·      Review time sheets to ensure proper reporting.
·      Makes coaching assignments for all swim meets.
·      Provides opportunities for staff professional development.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Qualifications:

The successful candidate for this position shall:

·      Hold a current swim coach certification with USA Swimming.
·      Be a coaching member in good standing with USA Swimming.
·      Hold an ASCA level 2 or higher certification.
·      Be proficiency with Microsoft Office software and social media applications.
·      Demonstrate strong communication and organizational skills.
·      Demonstrate the ability to foster positive relations with both internal and external stakeholders.
·      Have a willingness to maintain working knowledge of current swimming techniques and training.
·      Have a passion and ability to create a positive, inclusive environment where all swimmers are inspired to improve and succeed.
·      Have prior leadership of a coaching group and demonstrate the ability to direct staff.
·      Knowledge of the USA Center for Safe Sport policies and procedures and implementations by USA Swimming.
·      Have and maintain current certifications (STSC, CPR, First Aid, Concussion Protocol, Background Check, Coaches Advantage Tutorial).

Preferred Qualifications:

Successful candidates for this position may also have:

·      Experience in registration and team software such as TeamUnify/GoMotion
·      Experience performing the duties of Meet Director
