Job Description

Sarpy County Swim Club is seeking a knowledgeable, energetic and reliable part-time senior group assistant swim team coach. The assistant coach is responsible for on deck coaching and instruction for our development and age group levels as required. Our ideal candidate will play a key role in supporting the development and success of swimmers within our program. You will collaborate closely with the head coach and associate head coach to execute training sessions, monitor athlete progress, and create a positive and motivating atmosphere for swimmers.

 

Pay Range: $18-22/hr DOE

Hours: Part-time, 10-15 hours/week (Additional hours may be available for weights/dryland instruction, meets and events)

Travel: Occasional Local Travel (swim meets)

Essential Functions:

  • Technical Training:
    • Provide expert coaching in stroke technique, starts, turns, and race strategies to help athletes excel in their performance.
    • Work with head coach and associate head coach to design and implement training programs specifically tailored to develop and enhance the performance of high-level swimmers.
  • Athlete Development
    • Monitor and assess athlete progress, offering personalized feedback and guidance to facilitate improvement.
    • Cultivate a positive and supportive atmosphere to motivate athletes to reach their full potential.
  • Meet Preparation & Support
    • Assist in preparing athletes for competitions, including providing warm-ups, race strategies, and mental preparation.
    • Attend meets to support athletes, providing guidance to enhance their performance.
  • Communication & Collaboration
    • Maintain open and effective communication with athletes, parents, and team staff to coordinate schedules, provide updates, and address concerns.
    • Collaborate with the head coach, associate head coach, and other assistant coaches to ensure a cohesive and successful training program.
  • Team Support
    • Attend and support swimmers at team events (ex., awards, socials, parties, etc)
    • Provide additional coaching support (sub) for other practice groups as needed/available
    • Other duties as assigned

 

Practice Times (subject to change)

Summer: 6:30 – 8:15am (Primary; M-F), 3:45pm – 5:15pm (T/Th), 5:30-6:30pm (M/W/F)

School Year Hours: 3:45 – 5:30pm (M-Th), 5:30-6:30 (M/W), 5:30-8:00pm (F)

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years competitive swimming experience (required)
  • 2+ years previous coaching or collegiate swimming experience (preferred)
  • Experience at USA Swimming Sectionals meets or higher (preferred)
  • Already possess or ability to obtain USA Swimming coaching certifications prior to start (paid for/reimbursed by club) (required)
  • Ability to pass background check
  • Availability for morning and/or afternoon/evening practices, and weekend meets, as agreed upon with Head Coach & Team Administrator
  • Enthusiasm for mentoring and developing youth athletes to help them achieve their goals.
