Position Purpose: 

The part-time Teacher Assistant is responsible for supporting swim teachers with the teaching of classes, management of equipment and the deck. This role plays a significant role in customer service and overall school impression with our swimmers and parents/guardians. 

 

Main Responsibilities as a Teacher Assistant:

Teacher Training 

  • Support Swim Teachers in delivering high quality instruction using FOSS swim school tools, techniques, and mechanisms 
  • Engage teachers by helping manage classes 
  • Answer questions from teachers and parents/guardians 
  • Assist with equipment management and distribution 
  • Create welcoming environment and culture 

Pool Safety 

  • Educate on water awareness with teachers, students, and parents/guardians 
  • Maintain FOSS training standards 
  • Support successful class management 

Customer Service 

  • Be present in and out of the schools as a FOSS Brand Ambassador 
  • Build relationships with customers to create loyalty and excitement about the Foss Brand Purpose, programming, and community 

Facility Care 

  • Upholds facility cleanliness standards 

 

Position Specific Training: We like to make learning fun and have designated training cohorts to set you up for success. These cohorts provide a structured training schedule and allows you to learn and have fun with your team! 

*Attending both training days/times for the full cohort session is required. 
 

Cohort 1: July 21 - August 10 

  • 1a: Mondays & Wednesdays from 3:30pm – 7:30pm 

  • 1b: Thursdays from 3:30pm - 7:30pm and Saturdays from 9:00am – 1:00pm 

Cohort 2: August 11 - August 31 

  • 2a: Mondays & Wednesdays from 3:30pm – 7:30pm 

  • 2b: Thursdays from 3:30pm - 7:30pm and Saturdays from 9:00am – 1:00pm 

 

Qualifications: 

  • 1 year employed at FOSS preferred, not required. 
  • Required to complete the Certified Trainer Program. 
  • Experience in retail, health and fitness, restaurant, or other related experience preferred. 
  • Availability to work days, evenings, and weekends. 
  • Ability to participate in organizational, employee or community engagement events as necessary. 

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 

  • Self-motivated with a desire to achieve results and excel individually and as a team. 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining attention to detail. 
  • Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information, possess a high degree of personal integrity and sound judgment. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. 

 

Working Conditions: (if applicable) 

  • Ability to work in water and demonstrate the physical movements necessary to teach the FOSS Swim Path curriculum. 
  • Work in an indoor pool facility that will be warm and humid with water temperatures up to 91 degrees. 
  • Ability to work in areas exposed to noise, chemicals, and industrial equipment and supplies. 
  • Speak with others, including children, using clear, professional, and age-appropriate language. 
  • Move up and down stairs, service ramps, and/or ladders. 
  • Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. 
  • Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing 15 pounds without assistance and heavier lifting or movement tasks with assistance. 
  • Review documents, computer monitors or displays with potentially small print. 
  • Operate a computer, handheld device such as an iPad, phone and other common office tools or controls. 
  • Mentally focus on tasks and apply sound reasoning and judgement. 

 

Compensation Details:

  • Starting at $20.50 per hour
