Assistant Coach - Job Description
Position: part-time
Team Mission: To have an organized swimming program that provides a safe, supportive and welcoming environment while providing a high level of training to all levels of swimmers. The ultimate goal is to have each swimmer learn to train and compete at their highest individual level of achievement while emphasizing individual progress, family participation, good sportsmanship, individual integrity and team play.
Reports to: Head Coach and Head Age Group Coach
Pay: Annually (commensurate with experience)
The coach will lead approximately five age group practices weekly as well as attend one to two swim meets per month. They will be expected to help cover practices for other coaching staff as needed. Our swim coaches are a large part of what makes the Longmont Swim Club a high-level swim program, providing quality and engaging instruction is one the most important responsibilities of our coaches.

Major Responsibilities:
In alignment with Head Age Group Coach implement workouts that assist each swimmer in maximizing his/her potential.
In alignment with Head Age Group Coach implement an age group swim program that engages, excites, and develops athletes to meet their individually set goals through challenging and fun practices.
In alignment with Head Coach and Head Age Group Coach, implement teaching swim techniques of all strokes to prevent injury when swimmers move up to higher level groups.
Attend and supervise all scheduled age group practices.
Know and follow all club and practice/meet facility policies and guidelines.
Proficiency in TeamUnify and utilization of other related swimming social media sites and programs.
With other coaching staff, organize and participate in team celebration, recognition, awards banquets and team-building functions.
Assists with running tryouts as needed.
Attend scheduled coaches meetings to update Head Coach and Head Age Group Coach on group progress and how the swimmers are progressing with the group goals for each season.
Expectations:
Maintain current USA Swimming coach membership including completion of all required safety courses
willing to obtain USA Swimming Core Certification.
willing to work towards ASCA Education Certification Course level 2
Promptly attend scheduled swim meets, meetings, practices and team functions as required.
Maintain clear and consistent communication with Age Group parents.
Work with each swimmer to select appropriate meets and races that will align with swimmers' individual goals.
Collaborate with swimmers (and parents as needed) on setting goals and help develop individual programs for swimmers to reach these goals.
Ability to receive and provide constructive criticism as needed.
Ability to work collaboratively with other coaches as needed.
Effectively represent the Longmont Swim Club and assist the club in fulfilling its vision, mission, and goal, in a positive and professional manner and in accordance with Team and USA Swimming Code of Ethics and Conduct policies.
The Longmont Swim Club (Redtails) is a year-round swimming program which provides competitive swimming opportunities to athletes. The Redtails is a high quality, year-round swim program that trains swim levels from entry level competitive swimming to those competing at the national level and beyond. Our club provides coaching, support, and opportunities for all young athletes to achieve their maximum individual potential in a safe and welcoming environment.
