About Us:
The University Place Aquatic Club (UPAC) is a community-oriented swim club dedicated to developing athletes and fostering a love for the sport. The team consists of 120 swimmers from novice to National qualifiers. Our mission is to provide exceptional coaching and training while fostering a love for swimming and excellence, guiding swimmers from recreation to competition in a supportive, enjoyable environment. We are seeking a passionate and experienced individual to join our team as an Assistant Coach for our Age Group swimmers.
Position Overview:
UPAC coaches lead the training of all levels of swimmers from novices to national level competitors. Each coach is responsible for leading and developing primary one group of swimmers, consisting of about 12-15 athletes. This role requires a dynamic and skilled coach who can inspire athletes, implement effective training programs, and contribute to the overall success of our swim club.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and execute comprehensive training programs at the appropriate level of the athletes.
Provide individual and group coaching to enhance swimmers’ technique, endurance, and competitive skills.
Foster a positive, motivating environment that encourages athletes to reach their full potential.
Collaborate with other coaches and staff to ensure cohesive training and program development.
Monitor and evaluate athletes’ progress and adjust training plans as needed.
Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and the swim club management.
Participate in swim meets and events as required.
Qualifications:
While not required, the best candidate will have proven experience as a swim coach, preferably with a focus on competitive swim training.
Knowledge of swim techniques, training methodologies, and competition strategies.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to motivate and inspire athletes of varying skill levels.
Certification in CPR, First Aid, and coaching (USA Swimming Coach Certification) preferred.
Hours & Pay Rate:
10-15 hours of on-deck training time per week.
1-2 swim meets per month.
Competitive hourly pay rate commensurate with experience.
