The Athletics Department at Milligan University invites applications for the full-time position of
Assistant Men’s and Women’s Swim Coach.
Reporting to the Head Swim Coach, this position will work alongside the head swim coach and assist the head coach in recruiting, developing and mentoring student athletes into becoming future servant leaders and the best possible version of themselves.
Milligan had another outstanding year this past season. At nationals, the men finished a program record 3rd while the women once again finished in the top-10 for the 4th year in a row, along with the team's first ever relay national championship title and 5 runner up finishes. Both teams swept the AAC conference meet for the fourth year in a row, and next year will once again be at record roster numbers.
The position will require assisting the head coach with identification and recruitment of high- quality student athletes, assisting in administrative duties, coaching on deck, and continuing to grow a swim lesson program. A demonstrated ability to mentor student-athletes and enhance their personal, academic, and athletic development is critical to the position. The assistant coach will also assist in coordinating team travel, setup of events and oversight of special projects (team activities, community service), and fundraising. This position also has a large potential to continue to grow a clinic/lesson program for additional income, and does not have other departmental duties.
Successful candidates should have a minimum of bachelor’s degree along with experience in coaching college, club, or high school swimming. Previous college swimming experience, along with previous college coaching, is preferred. A strong desire to succeed, along with a great work ethic, is essential to this position. Candidates should also possess CPR/AED/Lifeguard certifications, but can be obtained after being hired. Other certifications, such as CSCS or USAW, are helpful. Successful candidates should also demonstrate a strong Christian faith and commitment to Milligan’s mission as a Christian liberal arts university. Primary duties and responsibilities would be performed on campus and may require early mornings along with travel to all away meets. This is a 12-month position with benefits.
Application Process: Applicants should submit a resume and a minimum of 2 references via email to Spencer Scarth, Head Swim Coach, scscarth@milligan.edu. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
