POSITION TITLE: PROGRAM INSTRUCTOR – SWIM TEAM COACH
DIVISION: MONON COMMUNITY CENTER
REPORTS TO: AQUATICS PROGRAM SUPERVISOR
FLSA STATUS: NON-EXEMPT; Starting at $15 per hour

Purpose of Position:

The purpose of this part-time position is to lead safe and effective swim practices for the Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation Sea Dragons Swim Team.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The following duties are typical for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Coaches swim practices for two groups of swimmers, ranging in age from 5-15.
  • Collaborates with other coaches to develop weekly workouts for each age group with a focus on technique, endurance, and speed.
  • Attends and assists in the running of swim meets.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other employees and all members of the public.
  • Enforces applicable rules and regulations with program participants and facility users.
  • Responds to public inquiries, suggestions, and complaints. Informs management as necessary.
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment.
  • Reliable attendance and timeliness to scheduled shifts.
  • Attends meetings as required.
  • Must adhere to CCPR dress code standards.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required to Perform Essential Job Functions:

  • Ability to work a varied schedule including days, evenings, and weekends.
  • Ability to teach in various depths of water for up to 4 hours.
  • Ability to assess people and varying situations, and act accordingly.
  • Ability to enforce Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation policy and procedures.
  • Ability to implement emergency plans.
  • Ability to positively promote the image of Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, guests, and the public.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to give and understand oral and written instructions.


Qualifications Required to Perform Essential Job Functions:

  • Previous competitive swimming experience preferred.
  • American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid Certification within 60 days of hire, prior to instructing the course.
  • Minimum 16 years of age

Must Complete Prior to Starting with Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation

Must pass a background check that encompasses national, state, and local searches.
