South Snohomish County Dolphins (SSCD) – Age Group Coach Position
Based at Kamiak High School Pool, Mukilteo, WA
The South Snohomish County Dolphins (SSCD) is a community-based swim team founded in 1966 in Mukilteo, Washington, and a proud member of Pacific Northwest Swimming. We are seeking an age group coach who is passionate about teaching the fundamentals of competitive swimming, fostering a love for the sport, and helping athletes reach their potential.
Position Overview
SSCD is hiring an Age Group Coach to work with our age group swimmers. Coaches will work with our staff on deck to build strong technical skills in strokes, starts, and turns while motivating swimmers in a fun, supportive, and competitive environment.
Responsibilities
· Prepare and run engaging swim practices focused on competitive technique, endurance.
· Track daily attendance and plan progressive workouts, including dryland activities.
· Attend appropriate swim meets (approx. once per month) and team events.
· Support team operations through meet entries, tryouts, and timely communication with families.
· Participate in regular coaches’ meetings and collaborate with staff to ensure consistent program delivery.
Qualifications
· Previous coaching, teaching, or competitive swimming experience.
· Strong communication and motivational skills, with an ability to work collaboratively.
· Must hold (or be able to obtain) current USA Swimming coaching certifications, including:
★ CPR
★ Safety Training for Swim Coaches
★ Athlete Protection Training
★ Background Check
★Thorough knowledge of USA Swimming rules.
Hours & Pay
· Approx. 2 hours per evening, Monday–Friday and Saturday mornings, with additional weekend hours for swim meets.
· Additional opportunities for coverage when other coaches are at meets.
· Competitive hourly pay, commensurate with experience.
