JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Polar Bears are seeking a full time assistant swim coach. The Polar Bears are entering their 10th season. During this time we have grown into a top 500 team and have produced a variety of age group, sectional, future and junior national swimmers. We are looking for a coach who is eager and passionate about the sport. Someone who pushes our athletes to the very best version of themselves everyday while emphasizing the importance of the team for the individual and collective betterment of all. As a full time assistant coach, you will be responsible for coaching 3 distinct practice groups.

We teach our athletes how to balance academics and athletics to try and prepare them for the challenges of being a collegiate student-athlete. We believe the qualities, which are developed by our pursuits in the pool, translate to positive work habits in school and beyond to adult life.
Job Requirements
1 year of coaching experience
Meet all USA Swimming certification & coaching requirements (CPR, Safety Training for Swim Coaches, USA Swimming Background Check, Athlete Protection, Lifeguard, First Aid, Concussion, etc.)
College swimming background preferred
Responsibilities
Deck/Coaching Time 18-25 Hours per Week
Office 10-15 Hours Per week
Assist in the setup of the pool for training sessions and competitions
Plan and execute seasonal and yearly competition schedules for practice groups.
Write and document workouts. This includes a dryland regiment partnered with the team's strength training coach.
Attend competitions
Serve as a liaison with private and public facilities to ensure continued practice.
Attend Coaches and Board Meetings
Take part in team events/philanthropy. The senior athletes started a nonprofit/partnership with the Special Olympics of Los Angeles in 2021. Our athletes play a direct role in coaching the Special Olympic athletes.
