Job Description

The Aquatics Director will manage our largest aquatics center at the Centennial Hills YMCA, ensure the Aquatics Department is meeting its monthly, quarterly, and annual goals and objectives, and ensure compliance with all Association standards and safety procedures.

The Aquatics Director will hire, train, evaluate, motivate, and inspire staff and volunteers for all Aquatics Program areas, develop and manage the Aquatics Department budget, and provide leadership and support to other committees, as assigned. The Director will ensure swim lessons are being instructed using the YMCA of the USA swim lesson program and will be responsible for fostering a nurturing environment for all swim lesson and aquatic participants.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: BA/BS in Sports Management/Recreation/Health Sciences or related field preferred with a minimum of 3 years of experience in aquatics and competitive swimming and at least one year in a supervisory capacity. Experience should include aquatic operations, swim lesson program oversight and competitive swimming program oversight and coaching.  Experience serving on leadership team of a YMCA (or similar) membership organization preferred.


  • Certification as a YMCA or American Red Cross Lifeguard (required)
  • Certification as a YMCA Swim Instructor or American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (required)
  • Certification as a YMCA or American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor (preferred)
  • CPR for the professional rescuer (includes AED) Certification (required)
  • First Aid Certification (required)
  • Oxygen Certification (required)
  • Certified Pool Operator (preferred)
