Responsibilities:     Must be Instructor Ready: uniform, lesson plans, maintain records (attendance, track progress and complete end of session report). Instruct participants according to YMCA Aquatics program standards: using lesson guides, guided discovery teaching, effective class organization and positive relationship with participants. Check equipment before and after each class, and report repair needs to supervisor whenever necessary. Set-up, breakdown and store equipment for each class. Attend mandatory in-service training on a monthly basis. Must attain the YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor certification within 120 days of hire. Know and understand the Emergency Action Plan and Emergency Evacuation Routes. Enforce Aquatics safety rules consistently and fairly. Maintain positive relationships with class participants, parents, non-class members and staff. Promote other Aquatics programs; have knowledge of pool schedule and programs. Maintain certification level of physical and mental readiness. Responsible for recertification before expiration. Actively participate in training sessions, designated meetings and special events.  Qualifications:         Must be 17 years of age or older. High School diploma or equivalent, desired. Assistant Swim Coach- Lead Senior Coach
acac is seeking a lead competitive coach to work primarily with our senior swimmers in our competitive team. acac also offers USMS Masters Swimming, a non competitive swim program and a summer recreational swim team.  The Assistant Coach conducts practices for acac swim team members following the head coach’s guidelines. The Assistant Coach works with children of different ages and ability levels so that they progress effectively to higher levels of swimming. Essential Functions and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned): On deck coaching primarily weekday mornings 5:00 -8:00am (Tuesday - Friday, some Saturdays). Other shifts may become available. Responsible for daily, weekly and season planning for the Senior group with the Head Coach and may attend 1 - 2 meets a month. Plans and conducts effective and progressive practices (in water and dryland) on a solo platform, with assistance from Head Coach. Maintains vigilance while conducting practice in order to maintain constant control of the group and emphasize safety at all times. Successful completion of all certifications required by USA swimming, The ability to address swimmers of various skill levels as well as coordinate effective practices for all parties in attendance. Promote the sport of swimming in a positive and enthusiastic manner to swimmers, their families and our club members. Job Title:  SWIM TEAM HEAD COACH Status: PART TIME Department: AQUATICS Reports to: SENIOR DIRECTOR OF MEMBERSHIP & WELLNESS Hourly Rate: $16 to $18 per hour POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Senior Director of Membership & Wellness, the Swim Team Head Coach is responsible for organizing and conducting practices, clinics, meets and other events for the Wallingford Family YMCA Dolphins Swim Team.  This team is sponsored by the Wallingford Family YMCA and participates in the Yankee Cluster Swim League. This program is conducted in accordance with the missions and policies of the Wallingford Family YMCA, the YMCA of the USA, and USA Swimming.   This is a part-time position, not to exceed 40 hours per week. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Contribute to and supervise the fulfillment of the YMCA Mission and character development values through the Wallingford Family YMCA Dolphins Swim Team program. Under the direction of the Senior Director of Membership & Wellness, will assist in recruitment, hiring, training, supervising, motivating and evaluating swim team staff, as well as taking disciplinary action up to and including termination as needed. Recruit and oversee the Parent’s Association volunteers, attend monthly Parent Association meetings or arrange a coach representative. Assure that monthly all-parent meetings are held (this can include the spring banquet) where parents vote on Association budget and membership and any other business. Encourage recruitment of swimmers through YMCA swim lesson programs as well as other YMCA youth programs in collaboration with the Senior Director of Membership & Wellness and the Aquatics Director. Develop and maintain a recordkeeping system of the status and progress of each swimmer. In conjunction with the assistant swim coaches, prepare all meet entries assuring that every child swims in every meet they attend. Develop a schedule for swim team practices across multiple facilities, and develop competitive swim clinics each year. Update, maintain, and distribute the Dolphin Swim Team handbook. Communicate regularly with Senior Director of Membership & Wellness and with all coaches. Maintain communication and rapport with all swimmers and their parents. Demonstrate an enthusiastic attitude towards the team and provide a positive learning environment for all. Oversee the Dolphins website and other social media and ensure that it is kept up to date. Assist in the preparation of an annual budget under the guidance and supervision of the Senior Director of Membership & Wellness, and manage that budget for the Dolphins Swim Team program in accordance with established procedures and expectations. Represent the Wallingford Family YMCA at YMCA regional events and trainings. Assist with the evaluation and improvement of the swim team program.  Assist with the creation of new programs and new collaborations. Evaluate all programs annually to ensure they meet the needs of program participants. Continue to develop and evaluate the USA Swimming program as part of the Dolphins Swim program. Report any facility problems, needed repairs to the Facility Director following the work order procedure. Keep current with swim coaching techniques and issues. Membership in ASCA recommended. Keep all certifications current and monitor coaching staff to ensure their certifications are also kept current.  All other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: A minimum of Lifeguarding (YMCA or ARC) and CPR/AED/AEO is required.   Coaching certifications from YMCA of the USA and USA Swimming. Certification from ASCA is preferred.  Two to four years competitive coaching experience is required.   Two years Head Coach preferred. Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent preferred. Demonstrated knowledge and ability to communicate recognized principles and practices of coaching young swimmers.   Demonstrated ability to build a team of quality coaches. Great communication skills a must as well as supervision and public relations skills.   Sexual harassment training must be obtained within 6 months.  Additional certifications preferred: Lifeguard Management, WSI and/or Y Swim Instructor, Lifeguard Instructor, and Pool Operator. He/She will emphasize teaching all aspects of swimming with focus on stroke technique and good work ethics while making great efforts to achieve success at the age group level. Qualifications: The successful candidate should have at least 3 years of coaching experience with USA Swimming or another FINA federation. He/ She must have completed the background check and safe sport (athlete protection) program, and must be in good standings with USA Swimming. The goal of our team is to provide every member an opportunity to improve swimming skills and achieve success at his or her level of ability, from novice to international competitor. We are a nonprofit 501c3 organization under the direction of a volunteer parent run Board of Directors. We have 70-90 swimmers in six progressive training groups: Little Nemos, Zoomers, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Juniors/Seniors that train year-round with a staff of five certified coaches. These groups are designed to provide athletes with a fun team atmosphere where swimmers of similar ability and commitment practice together and TEAM is emphasized in a competitive setting. We also offer an adult Masters swim group. The Marlins have swimmers from beginning age group to nationally-ranked athletes. This includes numerous zone, sectional and even junior national level athletes. Many of our Marlins alumni have gone on to swim collegiately at top-ranked universities, including the Air Force Academy, Denver University and Northwestern University. Team Site: www.montrosemarlins.org Coaching Responsibilities & Duties: • Plan and develop a competitive swim program. • Plan and develop engaging and level appropriate workouts. • Create a calendar of swim meets to attend throughout the year and encourage participation. • Develop and communicate team vision and goals. • Conduct, as applicable, individual swimmer/coach conferences to set goals for the season. • Supervise and evaluate assistant and junior coaches. • Assist in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training and supervising all assistant coaches. • Create a safe, positive swimming environment, including bully prevention. • Be approachable and visible to all club members and all swim team families. • Bring an enthusiastic and energetic approach to each and every practice. • Maintain efficient communication with swimmers and parents regarding information necessary for the day to day functioning of the club. • Serve as the liaison with the Montrose Recreation District Staff. • Work with the Meet Director and Admin Official to develop and host the team’s three annual home meets, held in January, July and November each year. • Perform administrative duties for the team, including team membership and communication. Minimum Qualifications: • Must have USA Swimming Coach Certification Experience coaching various ages and skill levels in a competitive environment (ability to get in the water with younger swimmers). • Swimming experience at the club, high school or collegiate level. • Demonstrate working knowledge of competitive swimming strokes, techniques of competitive swimming/physical conditioning, rules and regulations. • Ability to set and achieve individual and team goals and encourage others to do the same • Driver’s license and ability to travel Salary Compensation is negotiable based on experience but ranges from $20 - $22/hour, and will average approximately 10-25 hours per week. The Marlins will also pay $50 per meet, plus lodging, miles, and per diem. Professional fees and continuing education opportunities are paid for/reimbursed by the team. Piranhas Aquatic Club is seeking a lead competitive coach to work with swimmers in our competitive team. Piranhas Aquatic Club is a year-round USA swimming program in the Elk Grove area. The organization also offers USMS Masters Swimming and a summer recreational swim team. Job Responsibilities On-deck coaching and prep from generally from 6-7:30 am and 3:30-7:30 pm Monday-Friday. Responsible for daily, weekly, and season planning for the competitive team in coordination with the Head Coach and will typically attend 1-2 meets per month. Works directly with the Head Coach to develop and oversee curriculum and practice schedules for the competitive team. Works directly with the Head Coach to maintain the direction of the program to follow the long-term plan. Assist the Head Coach in developing this plan. Assist with administrative duties for the team, which includes communication to swimmers and parents, develop and implement strategies to retain swimmers and assist with marketing and development of all PAC programs. Supervision of the assistant coaches as assigned by the Head Coach. This includes oversight of training plans, schedules and other. Attend all meets as agreed upon with the head coach. Assist with travel meets for all meets attended for groups that the coach oversees. Compensation Compensation for this position is based on qualifications and availability.
