Assistant Swim Coach- Lead Senior Coach
acac is seeking a lead competitive coach to work primarily with our senior swimmers in our competitive team. acac also offers USMS Masters Swimming, a non competitive swim program and a summer recreational swim team.  The Assistant Coach conducts practices for acac swim team members following the head coach’s guidelines. The Assistant Coach works with children of different ages and ability levels so that they progress effectively to higher levels of swimming. Essential Functions and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned): On deck coaching primarily weekday mornings 5:00 -8:00am (Tuesday - Friday, some Saturdays). Other shifts may become available. Responsible for daily, weekly and season planning for the Senior group with the Head Coach and may attend 1 - 2 meets a month. Plans and conducts effective and progressive practices (in water and dryland) on a solo platform, with assistance from Head Coach. Maintains vigilance while conducting practice in order to maintain constant control of the group and emphasize safety at all times. Safety is our number one concern, thus acac swim team keeps Safe Sport at the forefront of our program. Successful completion of all certifications required by USA swimming, The ability to address swimmers of various skill levels as well as coordinate effective practices for all parties in attendance. Promote the sport of swimming in a positive and enthusiastic manner to swimmers, their families and our club members. The Tiger sharks  team is a competitive program for swimmers ages 5-18+ years. We are a small but growing team of currently 40 swimmers who compete throughout Maine, in USA  swimming events! The head coach is responsible for screening/evaluating team members, helping swimmers develop goals, planning practices, scheduling meets, working with parent volunteers as well as providing on deck coaching at practices and all swim meets.   Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Organize and conduct practice workouts that are developmentally appropriate, well organized, and which demonstrate trackable progression throughout the course of the season. Develop a team culture that is focused on Youth Development, which rewards effort and commitment, not only results. Assist swimmers in developing, evaluating, and achieving goals. Schedule, organize, and administer home and away meets, making sure all necessary paperwork is completed in submitted on time. Remain current and educated with developments in the field of competitive swimming. Incorporate this knowledge via delivery of Tiger Sharks swim team practices, meets and special events. Work with Tiger shark Parents who may wish to assist the Head Coach with organizational and administrative functions such as officiating or fund raising. Job Title:  SWIM TEAM HEAD COACH Status: PART TIME Department: AQUATICS Reports to: SENIOR DIRECTOR OF MEMBERSHIP & WELLNESS Hourly Rate: $16 to $18 per hour POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Senior Director of Membership & Wellness, the Swim Team Head Coach is responsible for organizing and conducting practices, clinics, meets and other events for the Wallingford Family YMCA Dolphins Swim Team.  This team is sponsored by the Wallingford Family YMCA and participates in the Yankee Cluster Swim League. This program is conducted in accordance with the missions and policies of the Wallingford Family YMCA, the YMCA of the USA, and USA Swimming.   This is a part-time position, not to exceed 40 hours per week. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Contribute to and supervise the fulfillment of the YMCA Mission and character development values through the Wallingford Family YMCA Dolphins Swim Team program. Under the direction of the Senior Director of Membership & Wellness, will assist in recruitment, hiring, training, supervising, motivating and evaluating swim team staff, as well as taking disciplinary action up to and including termination as needed. Recruit and oversee the Parent’s Association volunteers, attend monthly Parent Association meetings or arrange a coach representative. Assure that monthly all-parent meetings are held (this can include the spring banquet) where parents vote on Association budget and membership and any other business. Encourage recruitment of swimmers through YMCA swim lesson programs as well as other YMCA youth programs in collaboration with the Senior Director of Membership & Wellness and the Aquatics Director. Develop and maintain a recordkeeping system of the status and progress of each swimmer. In conjunction with the assistant swim coaches, prepare all meet entries assuring that every child swims in every meet they attend. Develop a schedule for swim team practices across multiple facilities, and develop competitive swim clinics each year. Update, maintain, and distribute the Dolphin Swim Team handbook. Communicate regularly with Senior Director of Membership & Wellness and with all coaches. Maintain communication and rapport with all swimmers and their parents. Demonstrate an enthusiastic attitude towards the team and provide a positive learning environment for all. Oversee the Dolphins website and other social media and ensure that it is kept up to date. Assist in the preparation of an annual budget under the guidance and supervision of the Senior Director of Membership & Wellness, and manage that budget for the Dolphins Swim Team program in accordance with established procedures and expectations. Represent the Wallingford Family YMCA at YMCA regional events and trainings. Assist with the evaluation and improvement of the swim team program.  Assist with the creation of new programs and new collaborations. Evaluate all programs annually to ensure they meet the needs of program participants. Continue to develop and evaluate the USA Swimming program as part of the Dolphins Swim program. Report any facility problems, needed repairs to the Facility Director following the work order procedure. Keep current with swim coaching techniques and issues. Membership in ASCA recommended. Keep all certifications current and monitor coaching staff to ensure their certifications are also kept current.  All other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: A minimum of Lifeguarding (YMCA or ARC) and CPR/AED/AEO is required.   Coaching certifications from YMCA of the USA and USA Swimming. Certification from ASCA is preferred.  Two to four years competitive coaching experience is required.   Two years Head Coach preferred. Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent preferred. Demonstrated knowledge and ability to communicate recognized principles and practices of coaching young swimmers.   Demonstrated ability to build a team of quality coaches. Great communication skills a must as well as supervision and public relations skills.   Sexual harassment training must be obtained within 6 months.  Additional certifications preferred: Lifeguard Management, WSI and/or Y Swim Instructor, Lifeguard Instructor, and Pool Operator. WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to lift 50 lbs. We are a nonprofit 501c3 organization under the direction of a volunteer parent run Board of Directors. We have 70-90 swimmers in six progressive training groups: Little Nemos, Zoomers, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Juniors/Seniors that train year-round with a staff of five certified coaches. These groups are designed to provide athletes with a fun team atmosphere where swimmers of similar ability and commitment practice together and TEAM is emphasized in a competitive setting. We also offer an adult Masters swim group. The Marlins have swimmers from beginning age group to nationally-ranked athletes. This includes numerous zone, sectional and even junior national level athletes. Piranhas Aquatic Club is seeking a lead competitive coach to work with swimmers in our competitive team. Piranhas Aquatic Club is a year-round USA swimming program in the Elk Grove area. The organization also offers USMS Masters Swimming and a summer recreational swim team. Job Responsibilities On-deck coaching and prep from generally from 6-7:30 am and 3:30-7:30 pm Monday-Friday. Responsible for daily, weekly, and season planning for the competitive team in coordination with the Head Coach and will typically attend 1-2 meets per month. Works directly with the Head Coach to develop and oversee curriculum and practice schedules for the competitive team. Works directly with the Head Coach to maintain the direction of the program to follow the long-term plan. Assist the Head Coach in developing this plan. Assist with administrative duties for the team, which includes communication to swimmers and parents, develop and implement strategies to retain swimmers and assist with marketing and development of all PAC programs. Supervision of the assistant coaches as assigned by the Head Coach. This includes oversight of training plans, schedules and other. Attend all meets as agreed upon with the head coach. Jersey Storm Swimming (STRM) - Head Coach
JERSEY STORM SWIMMING is seeking a motivated, innovative, and inspirational head coach to continue to grow our team and inspire and improve the performance of our swimmers. Jersey Storm is a non-profit, year-round, USA Swimming competitive swim team of 80+ swimmers that is managed by a Parent Board of Directors. Our competitive program consists of three levels: Senior, Junior, and Developmental. We also run a year-round pre-team (swim lesson) program. We are located in northern Burlington County, NJ (Middle Atlantic LSC) and our practice facility is on Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. The team is currently growing.  We are located in an area with an increasing population & we have members from many surrounding towns and counties. The Head Coach position is a 6 day/wk position (~3-4hrs/day coaching) plus weekend meets approximately once or twice per month. Additional off-deck time required to fulfill other head coaching duties and responsibilities. Part-Time Head Coach
The Sea Lions Swim Team (SLST) is currently looking to fill the position of Head Coach. The Sea Lions call Eisenschmidt Pool in St. Helens, OR home and serve swimmers in Columbia County from Scappoose to Rainier. St. Helens is located on Highway 30 about 25 miles Northwest of downtown Portland. SLST has approximately 30 - 40 year round swimmers ranging in age from 6 – 18 years. The Head Coach is responsible for coaching Age Group and Senior level swimmers and working with the Novice Coach to develop swimmers, set goals for swimmer performance, and establish club goals. Applicants should have a minimum of 1 year coaching experience with swimmers at all ages, including some experience/knowledge of coaching senior level athletes. Coaching candidates should have strong communication skills and are expected to be passionate about developing swimmers and building a strong club. Responsibilities include: • Conduct 5 practices per week. Practice time is Monday – Friday from 5:15 – 6:45 pm. • Write workouts for both the Age Group and Senior Group and coach on deck during practices. • Work closely with the Novice Coach to maintain and develop current swimmers and grow the team. • Schedule swim meets (1 meet per month) and encourage participation. • Manage entries for swim meets and attend swim meets. • Establish a positive environment that promotes the love of swimming. • Work with the board to communicate with swimmers and parents. • Work with the Meet Director for the team’s annual home meet, held in November each year, and encourage participation by all SLST swimmers. • Adhere to all USA Swimming policies • Perform administrative duties as necessary (i.e. tracking attendance) Qualifications: • Current CPR/AED certification • Current First Aid certification • Current Safety Training for Swim Coaches certification • Current Lifeguarding Certification (preferred) • Concussion Training • Athlete Protection • Knowledge of Team Unify management system (preferred) • Knowledge of Hy-Tek system (preferred) Compensation is negotiable based on experience but range from $18 - $22/hour with annual salary range of $10,000 - $12,500 per year.
