Working under the direction of the head coach to assist with various job duties including helping with the Senior Group as needed and recruiting new swimmers. Emphasizing proper stroke technique and understand the progression for each training group. Conducting test sets, dry land sessions following the season plan, tracking performance and communicating this information to parents, conduct parent and athlete meetings, attending coaches’ meetings and all other functions related. Creating a training plan and conducting workouts geared towards maximizing the swimmer's potential for primary training groups of highly committed 12 & Unders while overseeing the developmental 14 & Under program. Working with all coaches to ensure that athletes 12 & under are being prepared for long-term progression through the team. Performing administrative functions including, but not limited to, swim meet entries, parent and athletes meetings, attend weekend swim meets as scheduled, coaching at swim meets and management of team rosters. Running clinics and camps and develop cohesive lesson program to feed into the developmental half of the swim team. Helping to coordinate/manage corporate functions at the health club. What you’re all about: A joy and enthusiasm for working with children and helping them improve their competitive performance. 3 years of previous coaching experience and/or aquatics experience and coaching membership that is in good standing with USA Swimming. An ASCA Level II certification (or higher) is highly desirable but not required. High School diploma or general education degree (GED); Bachelor’s degree ideal. Job Description The Hickam Hurricanes are looking to hire a reasonably experienced coach to join our team on deck! We will be undergoing a few changes in our staffing in the coming months and would like to get ahead of the learning curve. About the team: The Hickam Hurricanes are a non-profit military only USA swimming club. We are located on Hickam Air Force Base, right next to Pearl Harbor (if you are non military that is not a problem, as base access can be granted via sponsorship). Due to being located on a military instillation, our membership is limited to military only families which usually leaves our active member count to over 100 swimmers, depending on the time of the year. About the position: One of our coaches is moving away in the next few months so her position would be passed along to the best qualified candidate. We would prefer to hire sooner than later, so that said candidate has time to get acquainted with the groups and have an easy transition once this coach departs. The typical weekly schedule is: 3:00pm - 6:30pm Monday to Friday 7:00am - 10:00am Saturday As needed for swim meets Responsibilities: You will be directly in charge of both the Mini 1 and Mini 2 age groups, acting as a first line of contact for parents should they have questions and report to the Head Coach. Depending on current staff, you will be required to coach at least the Mini 1 group each day, but possibility of coaching Mini 2 as well on certain days. Once finished with those groups, you will switch over to either the Gold or Elite groups assisting one of the coaches in charge of those groups. This way you will get to know the majority of the team as well as get to coach all levels on the team. Experience requested: Since you will be covering a large variety of skill levels we are asking: At least 1-2 years coaching experience, especially with 10&Under age groups Experience with a USA swimming club Certifications/Registration as a USA swimming coach (if expired, renewal must be completed before first day on deck) Willingness to be flexible on a daily basis with what groups you will be in charge of Prior experience as a swimmer is not required, but it helps Salary: All coaching staff are on an hourly based salary. AQUATICS LIFEGUARD & SAFETY COORDINATOR
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the supervision of the Aquatics Director and within the policies established by the Wallingford Family YMCA, the Aquatics Lifeguard & Safety Coordinator is responsible for planning and delivering of Lifeguard in-service trainings, conducting staff evaluations, and weekly scheduling for lifeguard staff. The Aquatics Lifeguard & Safety Coordinator will supervise Lifeguard staff ensure the highest quality and safety for all members and program participants. Weekend and daytime hours required in coordination with the Director. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Uphold and exemplify high standards of customer service. Assist in recruitment, training, development, and evaluation of aquatics staff.  Coordinate substitute procedures for staff; record all changes and maintain up-to-date staff schedule. Be accountable for coverage of all assigned lifeguard shifts.  Supervise aquatic staff in the absence of the Aquatics Director. Ensure records of staff certification are current and complete. Guard and/or teach in the absence of a scheduled lifeguard or swim instructor as necessary. Provide direct service as a lifeguard and/or swim instructor as needed. Assist with leadership at all lifeguard/swim instructor in-service trainings and meetings, including evaluations of swim instructors. Coordinate and schedule lifeguard shifts. Be professional, courteous, alert and diplomatic.  Guard all swimmers; eliminate unsafe practices and physical hazards Maintain general pool rules Administer proper first aid and carry out emergency procedures in the event of an accident Participate as a part of the Aquatics staff team in providing a safe and enjoyable environment Assist in the marketing and distribution of program information.  Answer questions and explain aquatics programs to the public, including answering emails, voicemails, and in-person inquiries.  Provide training and guidance to new lifeguard staff. Assist with evaluation of lifeguard staff for Initial Reviews (within the first 90 days) Work the opening pool shift at least 3 mornings per week Keep informed of all changes in the schedule and upcoming events Gather information and prepare reports as directed.  Participate on at least one committee within the YMCA or community.  Create and run at minimum one Aquatic Safety & Awareness event per year.  Participate in and/or volunteer for at least one Community Support Campaign event per year. Inspect and ensure high standards of maintenance, cleanliness, and repair of aquatic equipment and supplies, including first aid supplies.  Test and manage pools in accordance with Wallingford Family YMCA policies and guidelines, including, but not limited to, chemical levels and emergency situations. Assistant Head Coach-Novice Groups Head Coach
The Assistant Coach Position will report directly the Club Owner and Head Coach. Applicant should have a strong swimming background (competing at the college level preferred) and strong interpersonal skills with both children and adults. Applicants must be hands-on, detail oriented, and foster a positive attitude within the Club. Must be certified with USA Swimming as a non-athlete coach member, passing required USA Swimming background and coaching tests. Applicants must be able to travel locally (and occasionally regionally) for swim meets. Duties:   Primary Coach- Red Team, Secondary Coach- Black Team Provide Swim Lessons for additional compensation The Red Team consists of 3 groups. They are entry level groups and consist of kids ages 4-11. Red 1 is an entry level group with our youngest kids learning the basics of strokes and correct technique.  Red 2 is our second group and has kids that know the strokes, have the basic techniques and understand the rules of swimming. They are in the beginning stages of complex sets and are able to read the clocks.  Red 3 is our older swimmers that know the strokes, can comprehend and carry out complex yardage sets, read the clocks and are  preparing for advanced groups and/or High School Swimming.  Additional help with assisting the Head Coach in the advanced groups will be discussed with interview. Hours: Monday: 4:00-6:30 PM Tuesday: 4:00- 6:30 PM Wednesday: 4:00-6:30 PM Thursday: 4:00- 6:30 PM Additional hours will be available if needed/able. AGUA Masters Head Coach
Asphalt Green Masters is one of the fastest growing adult swim teams in the country with more than 250 registered members with a wide range of ages and swim abilities.  The AGUA Masters Head Coach is responsible for leading the overall growth and development of the AGUA Masters team as well as supporting Asphalt Green’s non-profit efforts.  AGUA Masters offers 25+ weekly practices in 2 locations, and a robust staff of 20 part-time coaches.  The Head Coach is responsible for developing, implementing, and preserving a progressive training program that supports athletes of all skill levels.  Moreover, the Head Coach focuses on increasing swimmer engagement and enhancing the team’s overall sense of community.  As the Masters champion for fundraising, the Head Coach works closely with the Development Team to insure that AGUA Masters team members appreciate and support Asphalt Green’s non-profit mission of assisting individuals of all ages and backgrounds achieve health through a lifetime of sports and fitness.  The Head Coach requires outstanding interpersonal skills in order to foster positive relationships with every Masters swimmer, and the ability to support personal development of these swimmers as appropriate.   Within the larger Asphalt Green community, the Head Coach will work in partnership with the Aquatics Department, Membership Department, Development Department, senior managers, and other AG stakeholders.  This position reports into the Director of Aquatics and oversees the AGUA Masters Team at both the Upper East Side campus as well as the Battery Park City campus.  New campuses are planned in the next few years that would also include Agua Masters Teams.   Responsibilities  Oversee year-round training program of roughly 250 Asphalt Green Masters Plan and schedule coaches each month for practices. Make sure all workouts are covered. Manage 20 part-time coaches who coach both workouts and private lessons. Must be highly visible, leading select practices (which include morning’s and Saturday’s), and engaging with all athletes.  Should personally be coaching 16-20 hours per week. Organize and promote social activities for the team Plan and develop financial budgets for team and private lessons for two campuses. Work with marketing to promote increased membership and private coaching.  Work closely with Development Department to identify potential donors and establish key relationships with members.
